I really dont see those as solutions. Many of you are proposing it, but are not outright saying it...

we want democracy

The solution is using science to come to the best way of organizing society. We have to start asking the question, what is needed for a sustainable civilization in which human well-being is taken into account?

A Program for the Occupy Movement

Dr. Jeff Eisen describes in his Omnius Manifesto how the accounting practices of companies should be changed to reflect the contribution they make to society or destruction they cause to the social sphere and ecological domain. This manifesto must go viral. (http://drjeffeisen.com/omnius-manifesto/)

In addition, the New Economy working group, associated with David Korten, has defined nine action clusters that need to be worked on. (http://neweconomyworkinggroup.org/about-us/ten-action-clusters) Food for thought..

Allow the transfer of wealth that is a natural part of the business cycle to occur. Recessions are the cleansing process of the cycle, they return ill gotten and recklessly made speculative wealth to the faithful savers and hard workers. The government is actively fighting this. The money from mal-investment needs to move into the hands of the honest. It requires no mandate from government and will happen eventually whether they want it to or not, all they are doing is delaying the inevitable so their buddies can piss off with their dodgy cash. U can't fight the laws of economics.

Did my comment on socialism get deleted? I spent a couple hours trying to formulate something I thought was important to say, and now I can't find it anywhere. Maybe I edited it too many times and somehow deleted it, but I don't understand. Would there be a notation "Comment Deleted" if it was deliberately removed?

Thanks.

[-] 1 points by GeorgeMichaelBluth (402) from Arlington, VA 13 years ago

If your post was sensible it probably got deleted.......

[-] 1 points by MattLHolck (16833) from San Diego, CA 13 years ago

if someone responded to it ,

however when a subject gets deleted all comments are lost

[-] 1 points by BreadLandPeace (359) 13 years ago

Thank you so much, but I don't quite understand. Could I have deleted it myself? I'm looking on other articles in case I forgot where I wrote it. I'd be really upset if someone deleted my post because they didn't agree with the political ideas I wrote.

Thank you so much.

we need to do away with the peaceful means of this the government has run its course if we continue on the path of peace we'll be silenced what we need now is to take up arms and do something about it our self take back what is rightly ours this world is no longer fit to be run by the corrupt people what theyve treat us as animals so what other choice do we have but to be animals ive tryed to be peaceful ive tryed to justify the goverments actions i served this country for 4 years and ive had enough if any you feel as i feel we can change this world we are the people we are one we can do this

[-] 1 points by MattLHolck (16833) from San Diego, CA 13 years ago

not through violent means

[-] 1 points by justme20 (0) 13 years ago

what other choice might we have? let them walk all over us? if we dare protest were beaten put in prison and punished for merely speaking we are the voice of the people we are oppressed and silenced time and time again in our life you know that is true we need to show them we are not afraid of them that we will not be put down any longer we will not submit to their threats we will not submit to them

[-] 1 points by native (29) 13 years ago

what a load of stupid, you are here and in the act of protesting (or whining as it seems to me) but apparently you are not too badly beaten and not in prison. maybe you thought you woke up in Beijing. Hyperbole and violence are both pretty worthless methods of protest. Try a reasonable solution or sound econonmic arguement and maybe someone will listen and follow you.

Roberto Unger has proposed a very interesting agenda to think about these issues (democracy realized, etc); you can read many of his work in:

Government issued currency. Not bank notes.

[-] 1 points by laffingrass (362) from Normal, IL 13 years ago

Actually not many of us are.

[-] 1 points by jeffersonjackson1913 (37) 13 years ago

On of you was broadcast all over the news reading the Communist Manifesto. There's a good chance a lot of MSNBC viewers believe it is a Communist movement.

[-] 1 points by native (29) 13 years ago

you have that right - Joe Kernan are you out there??

[-] 0 points by thomasmiller (163) 13 years ago

You are proposing it, but disguising it with other fancy words. You fear that if you say socialism then you get a lot of haters...so you use other words and dance around it.

[-] 1 points by laffingrass (362) from Normal, IL 13 years ago

I've never advocated anything socialistic.

I too have observed this.

............

Americans are more afraid of the word 'socialism'
than they are of cancer, hiv or world war III.
and they will fight it to their graves …

Calm down people, you are only fighting a 'word' …
Neither socialism or capitalism exist in nature
                  without the other…
           Alone they are mere philosophies…

Socialism without capitalistic freedom & incentives
will fail just as miserably as
            Capitalism without regulation
              has just demonstrated...

We can build a "true democracy" founded on the dreams
of all mankind & all ideologies...
                   We are the 99%
[-] 0 points by randart (498) 13 years ago

We need a new paradigm for the coming future. Capitalism has failed as we can see with the world economy teetering on the brink of disaster. Democracy is failing because of the money and greed that all politicians fall victim.

We need a new way of approaching the future as the global population has rounded the J-curve, peak oil has been reached, and fresh water is becoming more scarce. The combinations of all these issues will bring a huge change very soon.

We simply need a new way of seeing how to make it work or it will all fail, in my humble opinion.

[-] 1 points by GeorgeMichaelBluth (402) from Arlington, VA 13 years ago

Why not find what has worked and stick to that? USA was once the example of the world. Unfortunately we have not learned the lessons from all the empires that failed before us. 70 years of being the world super power? That's a historical record as the shortest time.

OWS proposes anarchy. We will soon see if that works. I have my doubts.

[-] 0 points by smartguy (180) 13 years ago

The solution is forcing the 1% to give us stuff.

[-] 1 points by native (29) 13 years ago

Ever read Jack and the Beanstalk, might be more on your intellectual level.

[-] 0 points by smartguy (180) 13 years ago

your mother read jack and the beanstalk

[-] 1 points by jeffersonjackson1913 (37) 13 years ago

This is why people do not take this movement seriously.

[-] 0 points by smartguy (180) 13 years ago

then put your fists up and take the first swing bro. I dare you

[-] 0 points by thomasmiller (163) 13 years ago

Thats what I kind of thought...

[-] 0 points by smartguy (180) 13 years ago

Hasn't Zeitgeist been debunked ten times over? It's funny how the Zeitgeist "truth" needs to be propagated by spam instead of strong arguments. Makes you wonder.
