What exactly is the goal of this? What has to happen for people to go back to their normal lives?

Watch some TV, pull up some funny kitten videos on you tube, spend some money on something you don't need, burn some gas, feel good about electing Obama.....there you go... don't you feel normal now.

For me personally, I think corps and government need to operate within a different framework than it currently does.

Right now, money is the most important thing not only for corps, but for elected officials. The current laws allow both entities to pursue profit at any cost.

It needs to change from money being the most important thing to people and the environment being the most important things.

So far, we don't have the technology to move ourselves off the planet (!), so we should probably focus more on maintaining this one for the foreseeable future.

To me, this should be about changing the CULTURE of our institutions - not necessarily dismantling them. I don't believe the system of Capitalism is necessarily the problem, it's how it's used in a culture of greed that aims to benefit a few at the top rather than a culture of social responsibility that aims to balance personal benefit with social benefit. For example, when a company cuts thousands of jobs for no other reason than to raise the stock price for the few at the top, that is socially irresponsible. I would argue that the goal should be to send a message to those in power and at the top of the economic triangle that they had better start balancing the needs of society with their personal needs, or we will find ways to force them to.

Yes - I get that, but how do you intend to get there?

Depending on the sub-group you listen to either re-elect the president or rewrite the constitution. Although I'm thinking several would settle for legalization of certain drugs.

so it's a bunch of people upset of a bunch of things will no real goal. How does that work?

actually subgroups with conflicting goals would be more accurate.

I think we should institute public financing of elections and a instant-runoff voting system for all elections. If that were done I'd go back to my normal life.

what would instant runoff voting look like?
