The best way to effect change is to study the underlying root cause of the problem and then construct an optimal way to solve the problem with a set of focused solutions. And the operative word is 'focused'.

When we hear citizens complaining about pensions, jobs, education, finance, etc. it seems a daunting task to be solving all these issues. Should we protest, or vote our way out to a solution? Or what?

I think it is all of the above, but in a coordinated, concerted way. It should not be executed at the same time, because it would be spreading resources thin and weaken the focus. The sequence needs to be:

1.) identify the ROOT cause

2.) join/form a grassroot movement that is focused on this message

3.) protest: deliver this single, concise message

4.) vote: hold politicians accountable to this single message

5.) follow-up: monitor said politicians of performance

6.) re-evaluate message's shortcomings and upgrade

7.) repeat from Step 4.

For my part, I have been attempting on coming up with this "one message". So far, I had concluded that we need to "upgrade" our political system to something that I will call:

  Government 3.0!

I have been writing a blog with the same title of "Government 3.0" at:

http://government3.blog.com

Every week, I will post the analysis that I have written, and I hope you can give me some criticism. The more independent thinkers who can help hammer out this single message, the better it will be.
