Forum Post: What is OWS going to acheive?

This content is user submitted and not an official statement

Let's look at what's currently going on

  • Banks lobbied and got bailouts
  • Defense companies lobby and get useless wars
  • DEA/Private prisons keep Marijuana illegal in spite of states voting to make it legal (what happened to the 10th amendment?)
  • Manufacturing and Oil companies get tax breaks

What is the common factor? The Government! That is what is corrupt. People should be occupying DC. Why is the anger selectively towards just the Wall Street guys? Wall St is just one of the sources of bribes.

The way there is a strong anti-rich sentiment being encouraged, it looks like a typical political move. Is this really a cleverly orchestrated movement to help reelect Obama in 2012? I hope not.

This almost looks like a clever plan to get the people on his side so he can raise taxes. First on the rich, then on everybody.

Welcome to the new third world politics of USA.

They go against Wall Street because the money controls the government. If you do not know that by now then please think about it for a bit and I believe you will see the logic.

The banks did not ask for the bailout nor did may of them need it. Had they failed you do not really know what would have actually occurred, DO you? I am not suggesting I know nor am I saying the plan made was flawed in anyway. It may very well have been a genuis economic decision that saved us from another depression.

But when the money people are corrupt you cannot be sure of anything. This is why occupy wall street is occupy wall street. They chose wall street as the financial center of the world. And they are going at it from all over the world. There are wall streets in every town and every city and every country.

We are all slaves to those in power. Those in power are not the US Govt but the bankers. Those that supply the money when the country was desperate. Read history. See the money needs during war time going all the way back to the 1600's.

This is not new, it is just gone over the top. They have always SKIMMED off the top but they did it quietly and carefully not to be too greedy. Now they are brazen and do anything they want. Laws are passed that are insanity that allow the recent Mortgage disaster to occur.

I am not saying there are a few guys sitting on a hill ruling everything (though there likely is something like that <G>). I am saying that there are many large banks that have policies that rape the planet and upfeed the giant central banks.

This is what it is about, Stopping this insanity. Just make it just. Banking requires proper regulation. Not to make business impossible but to make stealing impossible. It is not logical that better electronic processing can make money.

Think about the concept of an electronic system designed to control the worlds money system and people with the largest alternative systems can basically discern ways to gain inside info so they can trade before anyone else and change the direction of whole economies, then bet against them.

That is what goes on.

Now I am but one person with one point of view. I ramble a bit I now but my points are logical.

what about the other corporations that also control the government? Why only focus on the banks? Is it because they are the biggest of them all?

Forget Obama for a while. Who is suffering? What can be done to help our neighbors? Also, please put aside the pseudo Darwinian idea of the marketplace. There hasn't been a survival of the fittest marketplace in the U.S. in a hundred years. Do we care about people or not? Should we let the disabled die off or should we help them? How?

what does all this have to do with my post? And by the way, yes we should do all you suggest. That is exactly my point. Instead of doing it, if we are not careful enough, we might just help one party in the next election.

I agree the government is corrupt and that is something we need to change. We occupy everywhere. This has nothing to do with Obama. This has to do with ending the corruption and putting the power back in our hands as well as a laundry list of other goals. Because there is a lot that needs to be

I agree the government is corrupt and that is something we need to change. We occupy everywhere. This has nothing to do with Obama. This has to do with ending the corruption and putting the power back in our hands as well as a laundry list of other goals. Because there is a lot that needs to be changed.

For instance, i think we should emphasize on changing the system itself to give the people the power they originally had as a representative republic. My changes are here: http://occupier777.angelfire.com/

Notice demands 2-5. These are the changes i believe we need to bring many other changes without having to constantly protest in the future to do it.

I checked your link. There are similar demands on this forum too. Interestingly, recently India had a protest to do #4. I'm not sure if it really happened. People are starting to wake up all over the world.

What I'm afraid of is the democratic party using this for their gain. Just this evening, MSNBC had one of their idiots talk like OWS is closely aligned with the Dems.

Really? Thats awesome. I wish we had the same thing here. I have mentioned # 4 several times on various boards on politics. Though it has kind of evolved into its current form. I really believe it would change some things.

Yeah I know what you mean about the dems. They see it as business as usual. Look a movement lets hijack it and turn it into our movement. I am saying this as a liberal typically dem too. GOP does the same thing. All people with influence do. Its sad really, we are just another tool of leverage in their influence tool box.

I actually like us being independent. I dont want to support anyone. I want us to fix the system. Supporting one side changes nothing.

I like us being leaderless too. The protesters with "boots on ground" are being awesome. They work perfectly together. Hell congress should be taking notes. When you get that many people that run basically a community with no real organization or command structure( in the traditional sense) that is amazing.

To be honest #OWS is making a point of " You guys(politicians) are so useless we learned to get things done without a leader and chain of command"
