Forum Post: What is Corporatism in the USA?

Corporatism:

Allowing the big guys to do whatever they like, while regulating all the small guys out of business.

Institute police state with the public focused on a boogie man.

Reduce personal freedoms in the name of safety.

Our rights are in a free fall, multinationals are putting mom and pop shops out of business with the help of the government- at all levels- at an alarming pace. The police state is in full swing.

The small guy is getting hit with an incredible amount of regulations. Regulations that are not needed, while the big guys are literally destroying the planet and the economy- they dont have ANY regulations.

The wars are not ending, they are expanding. "Terror" is the enemy, and in order to beat it we must surrender those "freedoms" that they hate us for.

Did I forget anything?

How about separating Corporate America from Government? Make every business accountable for a limited number of regulations, regardless of their size. Make every business responsible for taxes on income earned in their business, regardless of their size.

Guy that owns a little sandwich shop around the corner just got hit with a 1000 dollar bill. What for?

A poster that states the health dept guidlines and pamphlets for his workers.

One. Thousand. Fuckin. Dollars. This guy is barely making it as it is.

Meanwhile Monsanto is patenting all of your food with a waiver from the Feds.

Thats how fascism works.

j-What kind of stupid do you have to be to not have those posters up in any type of restaurant?

[-] 1 points by OTP (-203) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

They already were up. Its the "new updated" version. Which happen to be identical to the old ones.

What a coincidence.

Right. Again. What kind of stupid do you have to be not to have those posters up?

As if this is all about stepping up for the common man.

I would love to see your reaction, judging from past performances, of how you would react when you get hit with a 1k bill for something you already did.

Same poster. Are you dense? A $3 piece of paper to boot.

What kind of stupid do you have to be to not realize thats a blatant money grab? Probably the same type of stupid to deny we are living in corporatism. On an occupy site no less. Wonderful.

Im not sure what your problem is, or what your goals here are on this site in general, but Im not getting sucked into a shit slinging match with you.

Enjoy. The site is yours. Have fun, go nuts, teach away.

PS- go tell these small business owners that are getting fucked that they are stupid.

You'll be right at the front of the crowd yelling about Walmart being everywhere, but when it comes to sticking up for the little guy you are no where to be found. Ironic.

You mean the small business owners that go and get licensed, right?

Want to paint the living room of someone down the street? Need about 4k in Florida to do it legally. The state doesnt care that the two of you are fine with the contract.

Meanwhile, the electric company can continue to pollute the air, water and land and get 4 billion in tax refunds.

Thats how facsism works.

Want to go fishing? Nope. Either pay the state your tax to feed yourself or you are a criminal. They say its to help preserve the water.

Meanwhile, TECO gets a free pass and a 4 billion refund.

Thats how fascism works.

Wow hyperbole police. I've painted other people's walls without a license. The US is one of the freest markets in the world, check the rankings.

Enjoy it while it lasts. You wont be able to do it openly much longer.

What state are you in?

[-] 3 points by ronimacarroni (1089) 11 years ago

Florida. We have Rick Scott for pete's sake, the guy is practically a libertarian. I think the whole regulation thing is just a boogie man and are being discussed to divert attention from the real issues.

Thats the state Im in too. Regulations increase every year on the construction industry, now they are going around and retro grading all windows for larger opening incase people need to crawl through them.

I have a friend who has a complex that has windows that dont open up to 24" high, only 22". 55" wide, but only 22" high. Replace them all.

Also have a friend who just got hit with a 2k citation for painting without a "license". Police showed up at his house and posted it on his door. They guy is damn near on the street, totally fucked him.

Meanwhile Buckhorn is going around crushing houses because they have been condemned for minor things while we have 20k homeless.

Please explain to me what business you are in and how you now have less regulation from Gov Dickhead Scott.

Citizens Insurance, though, seems to get more and more perks. Vehicle registration has doubled on his watch, traffic cameras are going up EVERYWHERE. and now the state has announced traffic stops at state roads for "safety checks".

The police state they initiated during the RNC was shameful.

He's going to lower the BAC level from .08 to .05. Didnt exactly see him sticking his neck out for people protesting in public space.

Penalties for crimes are up, most victimless.

Drug testing for welfare recipients, and then it turns out the company thats going to do the test is .... wait for it.... his friends?!! More crony corporatism at its finest.

He gave the teachers a raise, which wasnt near enough, but then coupled it with accepting Common Core- fascist planning at the youngest levels.

Overall spending is up.

Yea, you forgot our role. Automatically consuming anything we want. With needs it is understandable to automatically buy from corporations. However, when they are damaging the environment beyond what you might do if you needs on your own, in order to not be practicing corporatism, we need to work regularly together to organize other ways to meet needs.

There is a more subtle corporatism of social desires. Entertainment consumption. Alcohol and tobacco. Corporate audio recordings, video, video games.

The elite have made it so corporate entertainment is about that can be found. Accordingly, a movement to reject such and stage live events which also deal with . . . . the subject of corporatism, and environment etc. Activism as social entertainment is NEVER going to be corporatism as long as it employs effective strategy.
