I've been keeping up with the occupation and for once I am feeling honest to goodness hope, but the fight isn't over yet. I think (think) I might actually feel what it must have been like when the Declaration of Independence was signed or the US constitution was ratified.
These are what I would PERSONALLY like to see changed.
First and foremost we have separation of church and state. We need separation of business and state. One idea I would be to place a ban on any campaign contributions and gifts of any kind from any business while seeking office. If you're a running for office and need funds then your money has to come from good old fashioned fund raising.
Equal pay for both sexes. I'm a man and I am disgusted with the wage disparity women experience in this country.
I would like to see student loans for those students taken in by for-profit colleges that have been found to be defrauding the students to be forgiven and any money paid to their lenders paid back. If not that then Make student loans dischargeable through bankrupty.
I think we all know this one: For fucks sake give us Universal Healthcare you bastards.
No more corporate person-hood. It was a damn stupid idea then and now we're finding out why.
Raise taxes on the wealthy. Not by a huge margin. I believe anyone who works hard deserves his money and should have his toys but if you're living as a member of our society you've got to pay your dues or get out.
If tax breaks are so important then how about this: You'll get your tax breaks if your shown to (A) provide quality health care for your employees, (B) are actively creating jobs here in the states and HR isn't a revolving door of new and former employees.
