There are a bunch of people talking like communists here. Do they have the cojones to pick up arms? If they do I better make a beeline for the exits as it gets ugly when movements turn violent. I am betting that when winter sets in the OWS guys will go off to do other stuff, like Occupy Mexico.

very low, unless the police murder people...

[-] 1 points by VladimirMayakovsky (796) 13 years ago

Mobs rarely stay non-violent forever. There is no Gandhi to lead the masses here.

[-] 1 points by gawdoftruth (3698) from Santa Barbara, CA 13 years ago

non violence is the position of the movement and that is well communicated.

[-] 1 points by TheCloser (200) 13 years ago

It's the wisdom of the movement to be non-violent. We all know though, sometimes big things change fast.

[-] 0 points by VladimirMayakovsky (796) 13 years ago

That's why there is so much violence towards women in OWS. Look, there is no movement. There is a random group of people all with their own agenda. I worry a lot about that.

you are trolling.

Be careful what you wish for. Not all of us are peace loving hippies.

There may be violence as the result of frustration, but that would provoke a response from law enforcement and lose public sympathy.

No chance because the economic malaise will demand a fiscal choice. Do I buy the flat screen or the AK-47? I agree, honey, the flat screen is better for the family.

[-] 1 points by TheCloser (200) 13 years ago

It's possible. There are so many angry and disgruntled military folks with broken limbs and hearts - and they're trained to blow shit up and kill with a rifle and they can't get jobs or care from their government. If they fought for oil interests, they can fight for themselves.

The odd that any attempts at armed revolt would end up with the national guard stepping in.

I am surprised that Obama has stayed quiet all this time.

Is that some kind of twisted threat?

There shouldn't be an armed revolution. This is about the cash in government and elections and the free reign of unbridled capitalism. It isn't about reinventing the damned wheel.

[-] 0 points by VladimirMayakovsky (796) 13 years ago

How do you get there without an armed revolution?

[-] 1 points by GirlFriday (17435) 13 years ago

Through protesting and altering the legislation in order to protect the people from unbridled capitalism.

[-] 1 points by unarmed (213) 13 years ago

Simple physics. The violent scenario… "For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction."

The non violent option… "Energy cannot be created or destroyed, only converted from one form to another."

I'd say it's time to start converting the anger many Americans feel towards Wall St. and their money manipulating into actual change on Wall St.,

[-] 0 points by VladimirMayakovsky (796) 13 years ago

So we are going to have a revolution?

[-] 1 points by unarmed (213) 13 years ago

No, there will be change on Wall St, too many people want it.

[-] 0 points by VladimirMayakovsky (796) 13 years ago

But Wall Street guys don't and they are the only ones that matter.

[-] 1 points by unarmed (213) 13 years ago

No, the overwhelming number of people that want change is what matters. Money is useless if it can't sway public opinion. And in this case it can't. Ultimately the will of the masses always prevails.

But you can buy elections in the USA.

............

Americans are more afraid of the word 'socialism'
than they are of cancer, hiv or world war III.
and they will fight it to their graves …

Calm down people, you are only fighting a 'word' …
Neither socialism or capitalism exist in nature
                  without the other…
           Alone they are mere philosophies…

Socialism without capitalistic freedom & incentives
will fail just as miserably as
            Capitalism without regulation
              has just demonstrated...

We can build a "true democracy" founded on the dreams
of all mankind & all ideologies...
                   We are the 99%

If there is an armed revolution which side will you be on?

[-] 1 points by BradB (2693) from Washington, DC 13 years ago

[-] 0 points by aquainted (268) 13 years ago

I'd say pretty low until the Aliens land, then it's anyone's guess.

[-] 0 points by pseudocop (11) 13 years ago

Low.

Chances are low.

These lefties would lose-most of them don't know anything about about guns,

[-] 0 points by VladimirMayakovsky (796) 13 years ago

I don't know dude. All it will take is some random military colonel to decide that he can be the next Hugo Chavez by leveraging the OWS movement and we will be toast.

[-] 0 points by VladimirMayakovsky (796) 13 years ago

It will be ironic if after USSR goes capitalist USA goes Communist (and we have a new Cold War).

[-] 1 points by sudoname (1001) from Berkeley, CA 13 years ago

Slim to none, the occupiers don't know how to do, just whine.

[-] -2 points by asauti (-113) from Port Orchard, WA 13 years ago

The chances are definitely going UP!

[-] 1 points by audiman (90) 13 years ago

Folks, the heartland wants no part of this. Texas wants no part of this. Millions of folks have guns in thier homes. Protest through peace is the only way. Otherwise it would be terrible. I think being able to protest is a wonderful thing. But the minute it all goes south...it will be horrible for all.

[-] 0 points by asauti (-113) from Port Orchard, WA 13 years ago

Yes, I totally agree. See my brief post from earlier: http://occupywallst.org/forum/how-ows-will-fail/
