My demands are:
-Imposing higher taxes on imports for countries where we have trade deficits (China)
-Regulate commodities trading
-Reinstating Glass-Steal act.
-Revoking the decision of citizens united that money is speech
-Cut military spending. (stop buying weapons, not cutting veteran benefits!)
-Clean up the tax code
-Audit the fed
-Get anyone who worked for the finance sector out of Washington ASAP
As for recommendation:
-hire inspectors for each school to evaluate the teachers
-Get universal healthcare
So there you have it folks. A random protester with no expertise whatsoever came up with solutions like you demanded. You know since everyone who does have expertise is more concerned about finding ways to screw you.
Having spent 10 years on active duty and 7 in the reserves and Guard, I can speak from experience here. I have seen pay stubs for contractors being paid 3 times my wage for the same work (and with less experience). I have been to bases that were staffed by less than a hundred troops and were only a few miles from a larger base. I have seen more than a dozen tents (worth about $10k each) burned rather than being washed to be brought back from Iraq. There's plenty of waste that can be trimmed from the DoD, especially just by closing or consolidating most of the hundreds of bases we have overseas.
Universal healthcare doesn't have to be through FOR-PROFIT insurance companies. Mandate that health insurance be non-profit. Why should someone who doesn't have any involvement in treating the patient profit from their suffering?
Tariffs worked for us for almost 200 years. Gradual restoration of them can help restore and protect our manufacturing sector.
I'd add "All private funding to any political campaign will be matched by public funding to their opponents." Make people run on ideas, rather than ad spamming because they have billions to spend.
"Mandate that health insurance be non-profit. "
That right there would fix so much. Majority of personal bankruptcies are due to medical costs and this is people with insurance.
The cost of all public servants are through the roof due to 30% increase in insurance costs every year...that is what is causing bankrupt cites and states. The price of universities now, medical is a huge burden on the budget. Everything everywhere is affected by this.
I might also add, insurance has taken our freedom. Can't go to the park at the school, not covered on the insurance. We are forced to buy car insurance, in case someone is injured and has medical costs. etc.
like it, but would go further...end free trade now. WE have had tariffs since the American Revolution for a damn good reason which should now be obvious to all.
regulate commodities trading? Why are we even allowing that at all? Goldman Sachs and Koch started this so they could make themselves more money. It serves absolutely no other purpose. The assholes even named it after themselves!
In 1991, Goldman bankers came up with a new kind of investment product, a derivative that tracked 24 raw materials, from precious metals and energy to coffee, cocoa, cattle, corn, hogs, soy, and wheat to be known henceforth as the Goldman Sachs Commodity Index (GSCI)
They did audit the fed...here's a great summary by Alan Grayson.... Alan Grayson and Ron Lawl Demand Audit of Federal Reserve, Expose Largest Bank Heist in History of Mankind http://getsmartnews.com/news/297229
Now, as someone suggested in a thread post, we need to audit the pentagon (remember that missing 2.3 Trillion Rumsfeld announced on 9/10/01) and the Department of Homeland Security, who among other things, was just caught spending money on snow cone machines.
Right on with the not for profit universal health care. Health care is the number one cause of bankruptcies and everyone knows how out of control their own costs are. But every public employee that we support, the are generally getting health care that cost the tax payer about the same as their salary. As you can imagine this begins to add up, and has played a huge role in the cost of everything.
And the schools, get Bill Gates, ALEC and their ear wired 5 week trained TFA 'teachers' out of our schools!!
Bill Gates gave ALEC $376,635 to push education reform http://www.care2.com/causes/bill-gates-gives-alec-big-to-reform-education.html?page=1
Bill Gates to use in-ear wiring for TFA teachers to speed development as teachers. http://www.fastcompany.com/1732723/gates-foundation-gives-teachers-nfl-inspired-technology
But I hear ya, the solution are obvious to anyone who wants to solve the problems...
but the politicians and media are clearly trying to make things worse. It is just so insulting how stupid they think we are!
"-Imposing higher taxes on imports for countries where we have trade deficits (China) "
Maybe we should also stop giving aid money to China. That is like giving donations your mortgage company.
You fool. Do you know what would happen if we raise tariff on China? First they could just lower their currency and second they have talked to the West about this issue and a deal was made.
Cut military spending? how original. what do you plan on cutting?
hire inspectors for each school? ARE YOU Trying to spend more??!!
Universal Healthcare? I thought you hated corporations, but now you are making them a monopoly.
"Cut military spending? how original. what do you plan on cutting?"
Like I said. Just stop buying weapons and be happy with what you got. Nobody is going to catch up to the US military any time soon.
"hire inspectors for each school? ARE YOU Trying to spend more??!!"
Maybe it'd cost less than the whole standardized testing thing.
"Universal Healthcare? I thought you hated corporations, but now you are making them a monopoly."
Its just a giant money pool that would make healthcare cheaper for everyone. Heck I don't see many people complaining about medicare.
Stop buying weapons? we make our weapons and very rarely now. Most of our military budget is taken up by upkeep.
cost less then standardized testing? the Gov.. usually spends very little on that since most of it is privatized.
The problem is some people can't afford to put money in.
"You know since everyone who does have expertise is more concerned about finding ways to screw you."
LOL.
