It is ridiculous to suggest bribe reform.

For 3 decades they keep claiming to do this and all you people can't catch on to the bribes.

Only public funding with no ads from anybody (an obvious bribe) will prevent bribes.

The OWS ignoring bribery proves they are in the same deep trance as the rest of Americans.

Its NOT bribery. Its a public-private partnership where the president utilizes the talents of top execs to figure out how to get jobs in this country moving again. I'm sure Immelt's fee for sitting on the President's jobs council is not cheap, but its worth every cent of taxpayer dollar spent on it.

Job boom plan for America

For the protest to guarantee winning the next election the plan needs to be force the multinationals to buy all their supplies made by American workers. Prevent any imports from China and known slave states from being unloaded. The 13th amendment abolished slavery. Having slave made goods in America is unconstitutional.

Unions should have their own pay scale. Any workers who don't want to join the union will need to negotiate their own pension, their own wages, their own health care.

End all tax deductions or tax credits and use a sales tax to collect taxes so even criminals will pay their taxes. Eliminate the entire IRS which would save $400 billion annually.

To refuse to vote for that platform would be stupid and insane.

He's really helping isn't he? Over 9 percent unemployment. Awesome job Immelt.

MikeyD, I don't think you understand what I know to be the truth....GE actively destroyed jobs of the very people who are Occupying Wall Street. Next time you drive by a closed dealership, think GE Capital. Read my post above.

And, And, GE told the press last month that GE would not wait for the US economy to come back and so their moving even more jobs to China to take advantage of their growing economy. It's all for the stockholders, MikeyD. GE & Immelt are the evil on Wall Street!!! I don't care who is president, GE is EVIL!!!!

Although GE makes Bernie's Top Ten, and they have moved a lot of their work overseas, they're not the main target. We still need to focus on the criminals who actually are responsible for the crash.

And there it is. A shill for Obama. Move on Mikey.

Ugh, you mean not paying and federal income taxes in 2010 while making a ton on money on Wall Street is 'Not the Main Target'? Immelt has an office in the White House....not the main target??? GE makes billions (as in the billionaires OWS want to have pay their fair share of taxes), and GE is not the main target?

MY business crashed and MY employees got laid off and MY family's quality of life was ruined because of GE's $139,000,000,000 federal loan guarantee. GE was responsible for a major part of the crash:

Car dealerships ATV/Motorcycle dealerships Boat dealerships RV dealerships

Do you think finance companies were going to finance flooring inventory when they knew we were headed into a depression in 2008? Hell no! Remember the news of all those dealerships getting inventory dumped on them in Q4 2008 and then getting cut loose from the manufacturers? You might not, but thousands of unemployed Americans do.

I'll never forget how General Electric Capital ruined my business through political corruption in DC........

GE IS EXACTLY THE TARGET, RillyKewl !!!! Consider yourself educated on the subject!

GE Needs to be investigated for AntiTrust Violations, found guilty, then broken apart in accordance with the Sherman Act!

Bingo! Exactly. House Finance Committee with perjury penalties for all witnesses testifying for any lies they spew!!!

Break up GE & DC (Washington, that is).

[-] 1 points by ParacelsusStirner (42) 13 years ago

GE is pretty bad. They have holdings in the defense industry, as well

[-] 0 points by Sellerman (139) 13 years ago

Good point @ParacelsusStirner. GE is the "Industrial Military Complex" that president Eisenhower warned America about:

There's a GE plant they're knocking down and potentially replacing here in Bridgeport, CT. It's a fairly quiet street with a lot of park area that could be protested quite obviously. I'm not sure a lot of people would care though, and you wouldn't want to protest down here at night unless there were hundreds of people and cops like in new york...

The plant has something like 20 or 30 structures and it's own power plant. Some new political candidates are trying to force them to create jobs here when they replace the structure, if they do.

[-] 1 points by Sellerman (139) 13 years ago

@stevemiller: It's not bribe reform. GE Capital forced debt on boat dealers, car dealers, ATV/Motorcycle dealers, and other small businesses because they had zero risk. They lent companies money the companies didn't want & could not pay back...it mattered not: $139,000,000,000 taxpayer bailout ensured GE always got their money. House Finance Committee must have hearings! Occupy General Electric!!!!

GE owns NBC. GE is the largest producer of medical testing equipment in the world. They also own Universal Studeos and several banks. This is why Oprah, Ellen, and Dr Phil were paid hundreds of millions to contantly plug Countrywide (sup-prime bank), Citibank, medical testing, and every over-paid celebrity pig on the planet. Greed has turned just about every TV show into a commercial for parent companies and corporate sponsors. It makes me sick.

We have been mislead by Reagan, Bush Sr, Clinton, Bush Jr, Obama, and nearly every other public figure. Economic growth, job creation, and actual prosperity are not necessarily a package deal. In fact, the first two are horribly misunderstood. Economic growth/loss (GDP) is little more than a measure of wealth changing hands. A transfer of currency from one party to another. The rate at which it is traded. This was up until mid ’07′ however, has never been a measure of actual prosperity. Neither has job creation. The phrase itself has been thrown around so often, and in such a generic political manner, that it has come to mean nothing. Of course, we need to have certain things done for the benefit of society as a whole. We need farmers, builders, manufacturers, transporters, teachers, cops, firefighters, soldiers, mechanics, sanitation workers, doctors, managers, and visionaries. Their work is vital. I’ll even go out on a limb and say that we need politicians, attorneys, bankers, investors, and entertainers. In order to keep them productive, we must provide reasonable incentives. We need to compensate each by a fair measure for their actual contributions to society. We need to provide a reasonable scale of income opportunity for every independent adult, every provider, and share responsibility for those who have a legitimate need for aid. In order to achieve and sustain this, we must also address the cost of living and the distribution of wealth. Here, we have failed miserably. The majority have already lost their home equity, their financial security, and their relative buying power. The middle class have actually lost much of their ability to make ends meet, re-pay loans, pay taxes, and support their own economy. The lower class have gone nearly bankrupt. In all, its a multi-trillion dollar loss taken over about 30 years. Millions are under the impression that we need to create more jobs simply to provide more opportunity. as if that would solve the problem. It won’t. Not by a longshot. Jobs don’t necessarily create wealth. In fact, they almost never do. For the mostpart, they only transfer wealth from one party to another. A gain here. A loss there. Appreciation in one community. Depreciation in another. In order to create net wealth, you must harvest a new resource or make more efficient use of one. Either way you must have a reliable and ethical system in place to distribute that newly created wealth in order to benefit society as a whole and prevent a lagging downside. The ‘free market’ just doesn’t cut it. Its a farce. Many of the jobs created are nothing but filler. The promises empty. Sure, unemployment reached an all-time low under Bush. GDP reached an all-time high. But those are both shallow and misleading indicators. In order to gauge actual prosperity, you must consider the economy in human terms. As of ’08′ the average American was working more hours than the previous generation with far less equity to show for it. Consumer debt, forclosure, and bankruptcy were also at all-time highs. As of ’08′, every major American city was riddled with depressed communities, neglected neighborhoods, failing infrastructures, lost revenue, and gang activity. All of this has coincided with massive economic growth and job creation. Meanwhile, the rich have been getting richer and richer and richer even after taxes. Our nation’s wealth has been concentrated. Again, this represents a multi-trillion dollar loss taken by the majority. Its an absolute deal breaker. Bottom line: With or without economic growth or job creation, you must have a system in place to prevent too much wealth from being concentrated at the top. Unfortunately, we don’t. Our economy has become nothing but a giant game of Monopoly. The richest one percent already own nearly 1/2 of all United States wealth. More than double their share before Reagan took office. Still, they want more. They absolutely will not stop. Now, our society as a whole is in serious jeapordy. Greed kills.

Bigger fish to fry? Are you kidding? GE is one of the biggest fish on Wall Street!!! GE (NYSE symbol GE), destroyed businesses by supporting manufacturers (Yamaha, Honda, Polaris, RVs, Cars, Trucks, Boats, etc.) & forcing, forcing inventory dealer could not sell and GE knew--they knew- they would get this inventory back through default. So, GE negotiated their famous $139,000,000,000 Fed Loan Guarantee. GE lost $0 from all those bad loans. All that happened is businesses got destroyed (like mine) and employees lost their jobs (like mine). GE is EXACTLY the target & there is no bigger, stinky fish on Wall Street.....and the White House cause Jeffrey Immelt's office is there!!!!!!
