This happens all the time. Congress passes something, and once the new cycles run dry, they change it back or make it ineffective. If its a particulary big and important piece of legislation that had a lot of air time, they'll take their time disassemble it piece by piece over a span of many years. This way, they can save face with the public while still supporting corporations. The same thing will happen to us, unless we seek something more permanent, like a constitutional amendment.
We need specific reforms that tangibly put more power in the people's hands, like controlling what most Americans are likely to hear as far as news and current affairs. Then it will be harder for them to get their candidates into office to change things backwards.
