If significant numbers of protesters wear american revolution style tricorn hats, like the tea partiers do,the press will not be able to resist the image -some willthink that means teapartiers are involved- some are but we need more. As long as the usual media spin right left division remains making progress is difficult ,but blurring those lines is key top making this a large scale popular movement.
I think more people— not necessarily everyone, but more— should dress up in business attire. This will really throw security for a loop; perhaps, as well, permitting a few sublime accidents. I'll be there in a week, essentially dressed for a job interview.
I like the business suits attire combined with other dress. Why not mix it up and blur the lines like Samawry says. This seems smart.
It is a fantastic idea. The cops look out of place macing/beating on someone with a suit on, on someone who pays their taxes, on someone who pays the cops their salaries. Be as polite as possible. The local sentiment will be very important for success. Watch out for each other. Pick up any and all trash to place in the bins provided that we pay for, remember your visiting someone else's neighbourhood. Don’t be drunk/stoned. Wait till later. Do not spray paint roads/buildings or vandalize. Someone has to fix that later, your visiting someone else's neighbourhood.
I would love to see you all at a specified time have a minute of silence for U.S. and then collectively shout out together at the top of your lungs the message for your cause.
I have a suit, a tricorn hat, and a Guy Fawkes mask. Trifecta, baby!
Naah, actually, I would stick to the Guy Fawkes masks. One, V for Vendetta is a very popular movie amongst people 35 and under, so it is a guarantee that it is well known or at least accessible. Two, Guy Fawkes tried to upset a status quo in Britain by trying to blow up Parliament; although he was the 1st terrorist and he is not remembered fondly in Modern Britain he is a symbol of standing up for what you believe in and willing to go to great lengths to get it. Third, the Fawkes masks obscure the face. If people want to make statements to the press and don't wish to be identified they can wear the mask. (It also makes it harder for the media to play a game I call pop the pimple-they hone in on details about your background to attack your character rather than focus on what you are saying, squeezing you like a pimple. If this thing keeps getting bigger, those Fawkes masks could come in handy!
NYC has a law against wearing masks in public, unless it's for a masquerade party.
Which is over a hundred years old and so obviously a trumped up charge!! They have had decades of chances to arrest the people at the Village Halloween Parade on the same charge and have not lifted a finger nor shall they this October, proving the charge is bogus and politically motivated.
Wear the masks anyway. Civil disobedience in this case. That, and arresting a bunch of people for wearing masks in a public square will actually only attract more press to the matter if the mask wearers play their cards right. (Somebody hide an iPhone in their underpants for when they book you so you can film the process or record the audio.)
Oh, and PS-They will try to get you any way they can. Fifty bucks says that if they find a blue law that goes against painting your face in public in lieu of the Fawkes mask, they'll do it.
no reason why we can't wear the hats AND the masks..

Got any idea where to get cheap tricorner hats? -EDIT: nevermind! http://www.ehow.com/how_5204009_make-easy-tricorn-hat.html
Haha, nice. Brown paper bags are still legal in NYC, right?
