Forum Post: We should be occupying media

I posted this recently on a less popular occupy forum:

We need to focus ALL our energy on occupying the news corporations -- Fox, CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS. We either have to occupy all of them, or just Fox+CNN (that combination would show that this isn't about partisan politics).

As long as the media continues to keep the public indifferent or in support of corporations, nothing will ever change. So the only way to change anything is to change the media, and force it to give people actual NEWS, not propaganda or watered-down coverage that filters out all the important stories or filters out the facts of stories.

There's no point in occupying banks or wall street, because the media just spins it around and convinces viewers that it's not the banks' fault, and that the protestors are all just lazy sore losers and nutcases.

Just like a dictator's power is in the soldiers he commands, corporations' and the US govt's power is in the people. More precisely, power is in the MINDS of the people. To control people's minds is to control them. Media controls people's minds. So if we are to change people's minds, and get them to stop being controlled by the elite, then we must fix the media.
