How to Play Hardball: Part # 2

There needs to be a punishment and reward approach that neutralizes the impact of special interest money. In addition to selling the stocks of entities that have contributed to the campaigns of inept politicians, and in addition to boycotting all products that are produced within the constituency of such candidates (as outlined in Part 1) there should be a counter-balance whereby corporations make a Public Pledge of Political Neutrality (PPPN). By making a public commitment to no longer contribute to political campaigns and lobbyists, the people supporting the movement could support these companies and remove them from boycott lists.

Political Target of the Week: Mitch McConnell

Why? See Part #1 re: John Boehner – same story here.

Top Supporters: (dump stocks &/or boycott products & services)

  • Kindred Healthcare – a healthcare service company based in Kentucky.
  • Blackstone Group – investment advisory firm based in N.Y.
  • UBS AG – financial services company based in Zurich.
  • Elliot Management – management affiliate of hedge fund companies in N.Y.
  • WPP – marketing and communications company based in London.

Top Companies/Employers Within Constituency: (dump stocks &/or boycott)

  • UPS – parcel delivery service.
  • Ford Motor – auto manufacturer.
  • Norton Healthcare – healthcare services.
  • Humana Inc. – health insurance.

Note: 65% of this politician’s election contributions come from outside his own state.

If you like any of these companies and don’t want to see them on a boycott and a sell stock list, ask them to make a PPPN.

Support election and campaign reforms!
