Take for example the old "the people united will never be defeated."'what's wrong with it? Two things: first, it's an awkward literal translation of something with far more poetry and rhyme in Spanish. Whoever did the translating flubbed it real bad. Second, it invokes defeat rather than victory. It's a horrible thing to go about repeating like a mantra. It's classic self-defeating rhetoric. Let's create new slogans for a new movement.
i'll stand my ground and i won't back down --- hey baby there aint no easy way out
The movement needs clear messaging to have a better chance to succeed.
Slogans represent the movement. Lame slogans cripple it. Think of really really successful slogans. "We Shall Overcome." it's all-out positive without any hesitation. Clear messaging.
LOL. It ain't just me in this pit.
You broke it, you fix it.
Let's use them as inspiration. How can we find out what worked for them.
What were the great slogans in Cairo, Tunis and Tripoli?
Have you thought of any that you'd like to share?
