Forum Post: We need a solution

It's hard to determine what OCW hopes to accomplish. I think more people would be supportive if we proposed a solution; what is it we want that would correct this situation?

I'd love to resurrect the term-limits referendum. Congress is in the back pocket of corporations and lobbyists. If they didn't need to focus on the campaign contributions for re-election, perhaps they'd work for us instead. Voting them out of office doesn't work; they're too connected. Both parties are pathetic. We need representatives who will actually "represent" the 99%. This is something we could accomplish that would effect the greedy people not only on Wall Street but in Washington too!

Read the Rules

Make them personally civilly and criminally liable for any legislation they pass that is unconstitutional. Institute asset forfeiture laws for abuse of office and ethics violations. Prohibit for twenty years the hiring of any federal individual by any company that the individual had oversight powers while holding their position.

Rules against the companies are pointless - reign in the politicians who are making deals - there are less of them to monitor.

I believe government by the people should be the goal: http://occupywallst.org/forum/i-demand-informed-direct-democracy-online-whos-wit/

many others agree, I believe most people would agree.

This Congress,And Supreme Court are bought and paid for public servants for the banks and corporations, the people are taken out of the equation.. Printing 50 trillion dollars, backed by no goods or services, bailing out the richest companies on Earth, giving bonuses to the very ones that

bankrupted the world ecomomy..High Treason is the charge and demanding resignations from all compromised and complacent congresspeople, and Supreme Court,

The ones that control these puppets are at the heart of the matter, House of Rothschild,Rockefeller,Bush1,2 and all known accomplices dictate the every move of these elected puppets of the rich..You never see or hear about them,by design..They control the media, and the money supply,so they control the world through financial terrorism, market manipulation and war profiteering..Fear is their greatest weapon along with misinformation..Arrest these criminals for crimes against humanity, mass murder, genocide, extortion, bribery, market manipulation, intimidation, cooercion,to name a few..Seize their assets, estimated 500 trillion dollars hoarded wealth..Distribute the wealth to all people of the world, the ones these transnationals stole it from..We will then proceed to stimulate the economy,Forgive the debt,a manufactured number based on fake currency..

Suggested Long Term Goals For The OWS Movement And A New Direction For America

  1. OWS should put the Fair Elections Now Act at the top of the political agenda in 2012 while continuing to reach out and form alliances with other large constituencies. Enormous pressure from the 99% should be brought to bare on Congress to pass the Fair Elections Now Act and have the president sign it into law.

  2. Require new FCC regulations granting 100% FREE air time to all federal candidates who obtain sufficient petition signatures and/or votes to get on the ballot and participate in the primaries and/or electoral process.

  3. Start electing politicians to federal office who voluntarily refuse to take over $100.00 per campaign contribution and support a progressive agenda.

  4. End the "revolving door" of politicians and their staffs from ever becoming becoming lobbyists and prohibit all federal public employees, officers, officials from ever being employed by any corporation, individual or business that they specifically regulated while in office.

  5. Reform the federal tax code. The marginal tax rate ought to be raised to 50 percent on income between $500,000 and $5 million, 60 percent on income between $5 million and $15 million, and 70 percent on income over $15 million. There should be a 2 percent annual surtax on all fortunes over $7 million. The estate tax should be 55 percent and kicks in after $1 million. Capital gains should be taxed at 35 percent. End the home mortgage deduction on all homes over $750,000. Keep the corporate tax at 35% and eliminate corporate loopholes, unfair tax breaks, exemptions and deductions, subsidies and end offshore tax haven abuse. Those who take their money abroad in an effort to avoid paying American taxes should lose their American citizenship.

  6. Break up the biggest banks. Reenact Glass-Steagall. Abolish credit default swaps. Derivatives must be traded on transparent exchanges. Tax all financial transactions at 1%. Damp down speculation and raise $400 billion a year.

  7. End the wars. Reduce the military budget by half ($275 billion).

  8. Medicare For All. Allow Medicare to purchase drugs directly. Give MEDPAC more authority to drive down medical costs.

  9. A ten-year federal program that involves a New Works Progress Administration (WPA) and Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) to create millions of jobs rebuilding America that includes infrastructure banks run by engineers, not politicians to extricate ourselves from the Great Recession now and increase productivity later.

  10. To increase upward mobility in an increasingly stratified society, the federal government should pay tuition and fees for all students, part and full time, who are enrolled in two- and four-year public institutions in the United States. (Eighty-three percent of undergraduates now attend public institutions).

Two examples of rotten disgusting immoral behavior involving five very well known filthy disgusting rich multi-hundred-millionaire fake humanitarian celebrity pigs.

The ugly truth about the housing market, Countrywide, predatory lending, and the endorsements of Oprah Winfrey, Ellen Degeneres, and Dr Phil. Ch'Ching!

The first subprime loans were issued in 1994. It was a gimmick to sell more homes, artificially inflate the market, sell more homes at higher profits, foreclose on those who could not pay when the ARM rates readjusted, take their homes leaving them with nothing to show for their payments, resell the homes at a higher profit and so on. It was a cruel and calculated plan to sell more homes and artificially inflate the market. Those loans were incredibly profitable for well over a decade before the house of cards finally collapsed. In the meantime, bankers got richer along with the richest one percent who made off with higher dividends. It was a sham.

The biggest player in the game was Countrywide. Endorsed by Oprah Winfrey, Ellen Degeneres, and Dr Phil. If you have their shows from '04' to '06' on tape, watch them again. All three were paid millions specifically to endorse Countrywide by name. The biggest subprime player in the game. They issued more ARM loans than anyone else. Foreclosing on those who could not make their monthy payments when the rates suddenly went through the roof. It was a cruel and calculated plan to sell more homes, artificially inflate the market, foreclose, and resell for a higher profit. The sham worked like a charm for 12 years before the house of cards finally fell in.

At this approximate time, the worthless paper was sold to unsuspecting investors.

Oprah, Ellen, and Dr Phil were paid millions for their endorsements. Ch'Ching!

They have always had their ignorant love-sick fans eating right out of their hands. This alone is irresponsible. But to stand there and tell their ignorant love-sick fans to run out and get a loan from the biggest rat in the industry. That's just sick.

These three pigs are not naive little uninformed twits like Paris Hilton. They are educated, informed, and extremely savvy mass media juggernauts. They knew damn well about predatory lending. It was a common phrase by then. Still, they stood there and endorsed the biggest subprime rat in the industry. They did so with a big fat FAKE smile on their face. Unfortunately, public figures are not legally required to be straight with their ignorant fans.

But they God damn well should be.

Bono is no humanitarian. In fact, he made millions from a shady deal with Live Nation in which other investors were made to subsidize his multi-million dollar stock options regardless of market value. The stock tanked, Bono unloaded, and those 'other' investors did in fact take giant losses in part, so the filthy disgusting rich multi-hundred-millionaire 'humanitarian' Bono would not have to.

Ch'Ching!

Just another rotten immoral disgusting trick perpetrated in the name of greed.

Madonna secured a similar deal with Live Nation.

I've said it many times and I will say it many more.

There is no such thing as a multi-millionaire humanitarian.

  1. An end to ARM's these loans were used incorrectly by banks to get people into houses that the banks knew would have issues . These loans are great if you are a seasoned professional investor but for most people they are merely a way of skirting the qualifying process and end up being a bad deal for everyone but the bank.
  2. An end to IRA's and a return to guaranteed pensions. Anyone realize that all IRA's really are is a way for corporations to tap capital that was previously unavailable to them. So basically IRA's fund big bonuses and if the market conditions are right you may get to retire on those funds. But as is more likely you will lose a percentage of your retirement funds by participating. And of course if you are not a government employee you really have no choice because almost every corporation in the world has gone that way now. Just another way that we get used.
  3. Block entry of goods from countries that have no pollution controls on their factories. If we as a people have been supportive of EPA regulations for pollution then how can we allow goods to be imported from countries that do not support the environment. Not only does this practice harm the environment but it also kills manufacturing in America by allowing our companies to go abroad and then import back to the USA. Not only do our companies do this but they even lobby congress for free trade agreements to make the practice easier for them. For manufacturing to return to America we need to do this.
  4. End lobbying. Why should anyone be allowed to pay millions to have teams of people trying to influence our elected officials? It's just wrong. Our system was set up to allow people to collect names of constituents on a list who want something handled in a particular way. It's called a petition. That's how elected officials should decide which side of an issue they are on. If their constituents feel strongly enough about an issue they should petition and if still ignored call for a recall of that official.
  5. Reduce federal salaries and benefits. This requires no explanation.
  6. Encourage Dr.s to establish their own practices rather than being hired by a corporate practice. Would need to review some tort reform for Dr.s so they can afford their own malpractice insurance, which is one reason they go for the corporate practices. Getting the corporations out of this field would reduce the need for higher income levels (in a corporate setting you have to add profits above and beyond DR and Nurse salaries) thereby reducing the cost of basic family care.
  7. Let the Mexicans in. Charge everyone entering from Mexico a 1000.00 dollar fee to establish a tax ID. Do the same for the ones already here. I mean lets face it they are here and we need them to pay their share, something they would more than likely be glad to do if they had the opportunity. This card does not give them citizenship it would merely let them be here in a legal sense and allow us to collect the extra revenue that their presence requires.
  8. Maybe give tax breaks to any of the 1% that uses their money to support local improvement projects. Like fixing the streets in their town or building a civic center, or homeless shelters any project that would require a bond election would qualify and other projects could be added as needed. I'm tired of seeing all this effort and the media still reports that the desires of the group are not cohesive or well defined.

When people ask for something it works better than asking for everything or nothing.
