The current system needs to be torn down and rebuilt from the ground up. However, the size of our govt needs to be checked for many reasons. Here are a few: greater transparency, the people's voice will be heard, regulations will be more effective without all the red tape and watering down, greater efficiency and lower overall cost (taxes can be lower and the services provided can be greater). Less susceptible to special interests and lobbyists.
There is beauty in simplicity: We do not need the IRS, DEA, or many other government institutions.
Simply ending corporate influence (which will not be simple) will not effect much change as the size of the government provides cover for other special interests to crop up.
Government is needed to keep Wall Street in check. The problem arises from them not doing their job in this regard. Tearing down what little there is though doesn't fix the situation, though, it only lets the 1% fuck us harder.
This is not a difficult concept.
all a smaller gov. does, is make it easier to pay off people as there are less involved
