If this movement truly grows as some predict I believe it can result in a radical change in the US government. You see, once upon a time, we elected Senators and Congressmen to get up on their horses and ride to Washington DC where we expected them to vote on things the way the majority of the people that elected them would like. Some where along the way it was discovered that these elected officials could make useful laws for businesses. This eventually morphed into what we now call lobbyists and special interest groups. Now, if a voter tries to contact a Senator with a question he will usually be answered in generalities by a subordinate meanwhile, the lobbyists and special interest groups have the good Senator's cell phone number.

So, today we have a Congress that is totally locked and polarized about how to stimulate the economy. This was a problem that was always likely to occur and was not forseen by the Founding Fathers, bless them. In the past, politicians had more respect for each other and were always willing to compromise thereby pre-breaking any logjam.

Now if the Occupy Wall St movement keeps growing someone will eventually realize that Congress is now obsolete. We don't need to elect anyone to go to Washington DC to vote for us, we can do it ourselves using the internet. That would eliminate the lobbyists and special interest groups and at last becomes government by the people. Government will certainly be smaller and thus requires less working capital and can even lower taxes on the entire population. We can still have Senators and Congressmen but all they do is try to sway oiur vote one way or another. They no longer need a whole floor full of employees, just a handful will do.

This makes everything good and nothing bad.

kind regards, andrew
