Although I understand this is a decentralized movement, we need to strike now and ride this surge of enthusiasm into the Whitehouse. There has never been more need or opportunity for a third party to emerge, and there has never been a greater opportunity for a candidate who represents the true voice and concerns of the people.
With an uncompromising platform of actual banking and corporate oversight, actual jobs creation, true national health care, a fair progressive tax system, debt relief, and education reform we would sweep into the Whitehouse with ease.
These are excellent ideas, but start the war against Injustice by starting our own banks to double the income of the Bottom 99% of Workers, for many more people will come to your side when you are proactive (for “new” Business & Government solutions), instead of reactive (against “old” Business & Government solutions), which is why what we most immediately need is a comprehensive “new” strategy that implements all our various socioeconomic demands at the same time, regardless of party, and although I'm all in favor of taking down today's ineffective and inefficient Top 1% Management System of Business & Government, there's only one way to do it – by fighting bankers as bankers ourselves, and thus doubling our income from Bank Profits which are 40% of all Corporate Profits; that is, using a Focused Direct Democracy organized according to our current Occupations & Generations. Consequently, I have posted a 1-page Summary of the Strategically Weighted Policies, Organizational Operating Structures, and Tactical Investment Procedures necessary to do this at:

Join http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/StrategicInternationalSystems/ because we need 100,000 “support clicks” at AmericansElect.org in support of the above bank-focused platform.
Most importantly, remember, as cited in the first link, that as Bank Owner-Voters in your 1 of 48 "new" Business Investment Groups (or "new" Congressional Committees) you become the "new" Online Congress, and related “new” Businesses, REPLACING the "old" Congress, and related “old” Businesses, according to your current Occupations & Generations, called a Focused Direct Democracy.
Therefore, any Candidate (or Leader) therein, regardless of party, is a straw man, a puppet, a political opportunist, just like today; what's important is the STRATEGY – the sequence of steps – that the people organize themselves under in Military Internet Formation of their Individual Purchasing Power & Group Investment Power. In this, sequence is key, and if the correct mathematical sequence is followed then it results in doubling the income of the Bottom 99% of Workers from today's Bank Profits, which are 40% of all Corporate Profits.
Why? Because there are Natural Social Laws – in mathematical sequence – that are just like Natural Physical Laws, such as the Law of Gravity. You must follow those Natural Social Laws or the result will be Injustice, War, etc.
The FIRST step in Natural Social Law is to CONTROL the Banks as Bank Owner-Voters. If you do not, you will inevitably be UNJUSTLY EXPLOITED by the Top 1% Management System of Business & Government who have a Legitimate Profit Motive, just like you, to do so.
Consequently, you have no choice but to become Candidates (or Leaders) yourselves as Bank Owner-Voters according to your current Occupations & Generations.
So JOIN the 2nd link, and spread the word, so we can make 100,000 support clicks at AmericansElect.org when called for, at exactly the right time, by an e-mail from that group, in support of the above the bank-focused platform. If so, then you will see and feel how your goals can be accomplished within the above strategy as a “new” Candidate (or Leader) of your current Occupation & Generation.
You have one. Turn on CNN. Sheesh.
Two Names to Think About: Cornel West & Jesse Ventura
Need a bunch of them actually, it's congress that holds the power, not the president.
Yep. I said the same thing in other threads. We need about 500 names, 400+ house seats and 33(4?) senate seats. An entire slate in each state.
As for what they stand for? How about honest government? Term limits, restricting lobbying activities, and fairly funded elections. It would take at least 4 years to grab both houses of congress, probably much longer. That's a long time, but it becomes longer if we fail to act.
100+ senators IIRC.
And really, I prefer the idea of making demands of the current lot.
Make a specific demand that congress must carry out immediately. Something the rest of the 300 million Americans can get behind.
Well I spent an evening or two in 2008, phoning people for Obama, helping set up rides to polling places, etc.
So in 2010, I was invited to the democratic candidates private rallies for supporters. So I asked for 1) an intangibles tax and 2) election reform. I was met with a thousand ways for the candidates to say "No, can't be done." I think that is the answer you are going to get, even if 300 million ask.
(So when the election rolled around, they asked me to man the phones again. I said fine, but I would not be supporting the entire democratic slate. I was willing to support someone new running for Senator, but had lost faith in my house member. Needless to say, there was no place for me on the phones.)

No what is needed is a clear idea of what a candidate should stand for. This is what needs to happen is a crystallization of what a functional representative democracy looks like, and how we get there from were we are at now. Then your "hire" a candidate to represent that vision.
I agree. we need to make it clear what we demand, and we need to ensure that our numbers are overwhelming and a candidate will inevitably rise in response, and, as kookla said, we will need to encourage them all to rise. Not just one.
And do what? We should focus on getting corporate money out of the electoral system. It should be our prime goal, because that will open up the door to all other things we want to accomplish.
Agreed...I think you and I need to talk in more depth. I am still not a hundred percent sure where our arguments differ.
We need a candidate like we need the plague. The concentration of power in the hands of the few is the entire problem to begin with! Besides, a vanguard leader would almost assuredly just wretch power out of the hands of the people and secure it for themselves anyway "for our own good."
Does nobody remember when Lenin decried "All power to the Soviets"?! Yeah, that happened...
I agree. And there is too great a risk of a hijack if we have "one" spokesperson. Our unity is our strength, our numbers are our strength, we should not rush to winnow ourselves down to "one" leader of any kind.
