Forum Post: We need a boxing ring

We cannot pick people up and carry them out of the park. Liberty Plaza is open to everyone and people are starting to get aggressive. We need, us the aggressive folks, need to be able to reach out and get hit in a safe space where personal vendettas can dissipate in the logistics of a boxing match.

There is a boxing gym less than 4 blocks away between us and Charlotte's place. It would be great if every time people bluffed about their desire to fight we didn't have to worry about the whole encampment being at risk. The threat that boxing fights might create anger in the park is logistically ill informed. We already have aggression and threats being ignored and facilitated by the community which just wants to push things out of sight.

But we need a boxing ring. It's not about anger or hate, it's about getting it out so we can stop caring about this brute aggression that we would be able to physically handle if we could just get it out. And THEN hug it out. Dissipation instead of temporary de-escalation.

I am not speaking for the group though every one I have talked to from the fight I almost just witnessed to this computer at the media center at Liberty Plaza.
