Have ever wondered why the President of the United States, "the most powerful man in the world," only offers up half ass solutions to gargantuan problems? The simple answer is that he's bought. He doesn't want to offend his donor base. If "the most powerful man in the world" can be bought, what does that say about the rest of Capitol Hill? The 99% will see a decline in living standards into the forseeable future. The time for games is over. It is time to strike the beast in the heart!
Article V of the Constitution provides for a Constitutional Convention when the needs and desires of the states and populace are not being met, and specifically when the federal branch of government is the source of the problem.
- Start a broad based movement for a constitutional amendment to get money out of politics and get it passed by 75% of the states,
"No person, corporation or business entity of any type, domestic or foreign, shall be allowed to contribute money, directly or indirectly, to any candidate for Federal office or to contribute money on behalf of or opposed to any type of campaign for Federal office. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, campaign contributions to candidates for Federal office shall not constitute speech of any kind as guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution or any amendment to the U. S. Constitution. Congress shall set forth a federal holiday for the purposes of voting for candidates for Federal office."
Get a law passed for total public campaign financing to all federal candidates who obtain sufficient petition signatures and/or votes to get on the ballot and participate in the primaries and/or electoral process.
Require new FCC regulations granting free air time to all federal candidates for elected office.
There is a website devoted to a pettition that is doing pretty well. www.getmoneyout.com Unfortunately for the past two days the bandwidth has been overloaded. They did manage to get over 200000 digital signatures before it crashed though.
