I continue to hear the comments that millionaires and billionaires, corporations and big companies need to keep as much money as possible to create jobs. WRONG!!! Put the money in the hands of the 99%, we are the ones who spend, creating demand. Demand hightens need to supply, which means people will be hired to meet the demand! Consumers are the job creators! WE, the 99%, are the job creators!!! If we boycotted any single brand, we could cripple if not completely shut that brand down. But we continue to purchase. Apple is not successfull because they kept taxes low! They are successfull because we buy their products!!!! OccupyWallStreet, show your strength of numbers, and show the rich people that without you, your purchases, your bank accounts, your stocks/401k's there would be NO money to earn for them!

As many people are employed by small business owners as are employed by large corporations in the United States. Very little focus is on helping the small businesses via incentives and tax breaks as opposed to the large glutenous corporations. These same large corporations are more likely to outsource jobs to foreign countries as well.

You are also correct without money there are no consumers purchasing products.

I don't believe it is the governments job to create jobs. It is however the governments job not to create a financial atmosphere that breaks the backs of the middle class. Without the middle class small business owners unemployment would skyrocket.

Hi donniec13, Good Post. We run a small business, and it sure is better than working for some rotten corporation. And yes, boycott has power.

With technology there WILL NEVER BE ENOUGH "jobs", ever again. Welcome to the Age of Abundance. In the end, with technology, only 5% of the people will have to work to produce EVERYTHING humanity needs. Right now, LESS THAN 50% of the human race needs to work. Creating useless jobs is NOT the answer. Socialized Capitalism is probably the only reasonable answer, with a FAIR global labor market system at its core.

According to the US Census Bureau, in 2010, 21 million people lived in working-poor families. This translates into nearly 9.6 percent of all American families living below 100 percent of poverty have at least one family member working . In fact, 36 percent of client households served by the Feeding America network have one or more adults working.

certainly, but even people in working poor families BUY stuff. they play their part in job creation. make ways to put more money in their hands, and they will cause a demand for goods, thereby creating jobs to help supply the goods to meet the demands!
