Forum Post: We aren't ready...

Why any attempt to change society will probably fail... 1. We can't think outside the definition of property. as long as some are legally allowed to own multiple houses while others are homeless, society will never change. 2. We hate thinking of a moneyless society, if someone takes away the power and utility of money, all hope is lost and the world would be in chaos. 3. We cannot collaborate on a global scale. No one trusts unity, no one trusts each other. 4. We need prisons and insane asylums, we wouldn't know what to do if evil people were allowed to interact with anyone "normal". 5. War is just a game. 6. People don't know how to share, they fight over the simplest of things. How could we ever just give without taking more than we deserve? 7. Sharing at a global scale is most likely centuries away given the current state of the world. Change cannot happen if the world is not ready for it. We are still babies in the grand scheme of things.

Disagreeing with me is one thing, but what kind of plan or action could be taken to ensure I am proven wrong?

[-] 1 points by Zeitgeister (29) 13 years ago

My thoughts on your post

  1. being lethargic never changed society

  2. owning property in our society is a indicator of status but society never changing because of it is just naive. Housing everyone will not change the system, it will just make us fee better.

  3. You sound like someone working for the federal reserve! No money does not equal chaos. Money is meaningless, it holds no power other than what we as a people have given it. The problem is how money is used and controlled. "Give me control of a nation's money and I care not who makes it's laws" — Mayer Amschel Bauer Rothschild

  4. We do not need to collaborate on a global scale, each nations societies are different, trying to unite them all would be pointless at this stage. however spouting: "No one trusts unity, no one trusts each other." is not going to make it happen any faster.

  5. Just because someone is insane does not make them Evil. "Normal" is just an opinion that has been widely accepted but it is still an opinion. I do agree that those who do harm to others and societyas whole should be removed from society.

  6. What does war being a game have to do with changing society? War is a way to make money and gain power. Always has and always will. The cessation of war however would be the necessary step to changing society.

  7. Billions give and billions take, it is the greed of the individual that is the problem. Unfortunately those who are greedy are those who are usually in power. Only through education can this greed be stopped. Education of the value of human life, education of morals. selflessness does exist and it starts with you.

  8. It is America that needs to change. The rest of the world does not share our all our problems. It's almost as if America is surrounded by this bubble, unaware of what is really happening outside and how much it differs from what is happening inside. Turn off the news and read; read.

  9. Change starts with us, it's no good talking about why we can't do it. If that's the attitude we all take then things will never change. If you want change it starts with getting mad! You have to stand up and say: "I'm a HUMAN BEING, God damn it! My life has VALUE! I'M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!

[-] 1 points by rainbow91 (10) 13 years ago

It's good to know you are mad at the system, I am mad too. But how exactly should we put these words into action? What's the plan?

[-] 1 points by Zeitgeister (29) 13 years ago

Ah that is the big question and a question I cannot answer at this time without leaving holes in my theory but i do have some ideas. Whatever we do will take a long time.

The short answer revolution.

Not the typical revolution you normally think of; not yet. Revolution literally means: "to turn around". We need to turn around and take a look at ourselves and understand what is happening to us and how we fit into society. Self-awareness.

Then we educate. Educate people in what is really happening around them. Start with your friends they will most likely be the first to listen to you. If you're convincing enough they will believe you and probably tell their friends. Joining protest is a form of education, letting your fellow American know what is happening to the economy and how society is being controlled by the few.

When enough people realize what is going on, they will demand change on a nationwide scale. We will demand that the government change the laws and legislation that has put us on the bottom of the pile and kept us subservient.

If they still do nothing then they no longer represent the ideals and beliefs of people and the must be removed from power. That is when real revolution comes to fruition and those who wish to maintain power are removed by force. The Libyan revolution came about in the same way. Education, Protest, Demanding change, Revolution.

I do not advocate violence AT ALL but we must all see how it may be necessary if the voice of the people goes unheard. It is; a last resort.

‎"Would you like to save the world from the degradation and destruction it seems destined for? Then step away from shallow mass movements and quietly go to work on your own self-awareness. If you want to awaken all of humanity, then awaken all of yourself. If you want to eliminate the suffering in the world, then eliminate all that is dark and negative in yourself. Truly, the greatest gift you have to give is that of your own self-transformation." - Lao Tzu

We have to unlearn what we have learned.

"But I would say to my fellows, once for all, As long as possible live free and uncommitted. It makes but little difference whether you are committed to a farm or the county jail." -Henry David Thoreau.

I agree. We have to unlearn our drudging, mundane faith on money as a thing of any meaning.

[-] 1 points by LaoTzu (169) 13 years ago

Yes exactly! :)

Its really not all that complicated..."become the change you want to see"...And exchange the gloom for bloom.....

But we're growing up fast. Naomi Klein said: At least we've found each other... We'll sort it out, we're humans, we're good at it. Don't worry.

Tell me something positive then?

We the 99% must become Self-sufficient and build Infrastructure, use recyclable parts to construct, Grow our own Local Organic food for the People. Build Free Energy devices that will take the People off of the GRID and dependency on Oil, immediately. Build CNC Machines for the People so that we may not have to be dependent on anyone other then ourselves working together. We will need bartering systems between local business owners who wish to assist the Occupation with donations or even by doing as I did. I went to Magnolia Bakery and made a request to offer OccupyWallStreet Cupcakes as a form of assistance & awareness. I've also tried for local businesses to offer OccupyWallStreet Organic Pizza's. These times, local business's are very eager to assist the occupation, and what I mean by assist is that they are really willing to support by any way they can! they too are part of the 99%!

The key thing is rebuilding infrastructure. That is very important for the future of the People.

The People, United, Will Never Be Defeated!

That's more like what I want to hear, something we can actually do to move in the right direction. Now for actual implementation.

[-] 1 points by Scout (729) 13 years ago

but hold on a minute! The first step is to redefine the difference between right and wrong as in good and evil. If someone has done wrong in accordance with previously written laws and statutes they must be punished in accordance with those laws. The banksters have simply pushed the laws aside-laws that would see many of them go to jail for fraud against the American people. If we can just do that it would be a start.... baby steps towards a more moral society

[-] 1 points by worker2 (4) 13 years ago

Yes we aren't ready just yet! Let me sit on my A$$ for a few more months of hands out. By then it will be winter then I will just sit on my A$$ till it gets warm. Don't wait for me I will get there soon enough. By the Brother can you spare some of the supplies and money???????

"we need to examine our attitudes toward peace itself. too many of us think that it is impossible. to many think it is unreal. but that is a dangerous defeatest belief. it leads to the conclusion that war is inevitable. that mankind is doomed. that we are gripped by forces we cannot control. WE NEED NOT ACCEPT THAT VIEW. OUR PROBLEMS ARE MANMADE THEREFORE CAN BE SOLVED BY MAN!" - JFK (on the day of his assasination) people like you need to shut your mouth and keep your defeatest crappy attitude to yourself, just because you have given up doenst mean the world has. the object is to connect with likeminded people. and it sounds like you see alot of problems that you cant fix by yourself so you gave up and now your bitter. be we can fix these problems as people. now is not the time to give up. NOW IS THE TIME TO STAND UP!!! shake off the negative and pump the positive

[-] 1 points by rainbow91 (10) 13 years ago

Since when is "shut your mouth and keep your defeatest crappy attitude to yourself" pumping up the positive? All judgments aside though, I would love to be proven wrong, and I would love to see this movement actually change things for the better. I just don't think the change the world needs will be coming because we are stuck. People in America are not going to give up their rights to be greedy, overeat, and hoard property. You would have to dismantle the Constitution for that to happen and people aren't going to do that for any reason if they can prevent it.

[-] 1 points by beyondmoney22 (233) 13 years ago

I Was just merely proving a point and a very good point. you see how you were negative and then i was negative back to you and it created a positve. now your are saying words like LOVE, CHANGE, MOVEMENT, BETTER. the point is that only about 4% of the 99% are greedy, overeating hoarders so im not sure where you were going with that. why would the constitution have to be dismantled? money is not a part of the constitution. it may have to be amended to suit the needs of an evolving world but the basic foundation is still there its just not in use anymore. it is a piece of scratch paper for the 1% to wipe their asses with.

[-] 1 points by rainbow91 (10) 13 years ago

Your negativity didn't make me think positive. I'm on your side, I wish I could be proven wrong. The fact is that it doesn't matter if those greedy ppl are only 4 percent of the population. There will always be some who will not give up their right to excess willingly. Is this movement ready to take property away to redistribute it to the homeless? That's what needs to be done in order to achieve equality in the short term. In the long term we could always simply build more houses, but that takes serious organization, planning, labor, and allocation of resources. Even it that were to happen things would get better no doubt, but a goal like that is a long way away. Please prove me wrong!

[-] 1 points by beyondmoney22 (233) 13 years ago

with ease. first of all we are not on the same said all my messages i post on the main forum are positive messages of change with real solutions to fix these problems. while you began this post with such negative sentiment, doubt and fear that offers no solutions. the two sides to this movement are the complainers and problem solvers you are a negative complainer that has offered no solution to fix anything. you are worried about the hand full of greedy people when you should be worried about the rest of us. you said in your post that without money the world would be in chaos which is down right untrue just look at history. can you even name a civilization that didnt have money, slaves, or militaries? cause i can write you a list. history tells us one basic prinicible from every society that creates some kind of value system. its great at first and people get distracted by all the shiny things that their worthless paper gets them and then the system fails and crashes and burns. that is what has happend to every single monetary based system excluding none. every monetary system in our world is failing right now, not just America, every single one. and it will always be that way when give anything value. this proves all of your philosophies wrong because you fail to see this basic fact of history.

and as for redistributing property to the poor that is just impractical and wont solve anything at all. what will it solve? it will give poor people something to sell back to rich people for clean water and maybe a hot shower if they have good bartering skills.

[-] 1 points by rainbow91 (10) 13 years ago

LOL so a homeless person with a new house would trade it to some rich person for a hot shower? Sounds like they don't know how to work a water heater! It's great you want to argue my post, but do you have a practical method of achieving these goals?

[-] 1 points by beyondmoney22 (233) 13 years ago

yep just posted it. and who is talking about a house? get off the details because these are all non issues

[-] 1 points by RAWright (35) 13 years ago

We are still babies, the movement is still a baby. Our ideas are still in its infancy but now is a good time to start. Even if this movement fails we will have gained a new awareness of ourselves as a nation knowing that we have the hunger for change. If you have the capacity within yourself to give without taking more than you deserve then you are ready to be the change you seek in the world. "Be the change you seek in the world". Gandhi said that I believe.

Cheers, Richard

It is a good time to start, hopefully this will cause at least something to change. Good words to live by.
