The similarities with this movement and the French Revolution is striking. We could learn a lot from the past lest it repeat itself. They are the Old Regime. We are the starving peasants/bourgeois. We are the 99%.
Hardly. I don't see Obama building large Castle Manors with the tax payers money. I also don't see a monarchy. The Bastille was the "beacon of hope" for the French during the fighting. It armed them, and kept the resistance alive. Wallstreet has nothing to do with that. Wallstreet is the idea that few are taking from many. They are the King Louis of the French Revolution if anything. This is not a revolution, until the people realize that they are being ignored, and when that happens, the revolution will begin.
"This is not a revolution, until the people realize that they are being ignored, and when that happens, the revolution will begin."
Excellent line.
This protest is not literally a revolution, so unless you vote none of this will matter. Pretending that this is a revolution when obviously it isn't only distracts from efforts that could be effective at making government more responsive to your concerns.
