Subject: FW: occupation protest strategy Date: Mon, 7 Mar 2011 10:45:57 -0500 Hello , Occupiers! I had this idea: What I imagine is a mass protest in which all protesters are dispersed throughout the city in groups of 3 or 4. Thousands walk the streets with their protest signs during both rush hours and the lunch hour. They do not block people nor traffic. They observe all walk signals. Maybe they could hand out fliers. I think long banners would bring trouble from authorities. Smaller, foldable cardboard signs would be best. Protesters sit between these walk/protest periods, especially in cold weather, in libraries, fast food, cafes, their own cars, always displaying their signs in their windows. If this idea is illegal, police could not arrest/contain everyone since they are all dispersed. How to evenly disperse the groups of 3 or 4: 100 people: split in half, go 2 different directions , dropping people off in little groups,[3 or 4] along the way. 1,000 people: draw an alphabetical grid on the map and place little groups according to one persons name in each little group . Maybe call my idea 'walking signs'. Improve this idea if you like. I explain this on the 'occupy cleveland' site.

I think any idea that expands the area of the movement is a great idea. About a week ago I saw a post with another good idea. She said that she very much wanted to participate but couldn't physically be at the protest, so she thought that everyone that wanted to be a part of the protest but couldn't be there could put a sign on their front lawn or in their front window. This would work for urban and suburban settings. Can you imagine this going global?
