I continue to read how we need to be voting out these imposters . Its simple threaten to vote nobody. Yes write in vote nobody. Get real change ,, start new. Quit supporting Obama or any of them for that matter. Where is Obama in all this ? When police Had a problem with a professor they thought was breaking into his own house Obama was there, they sat down for a beer together. Hes now playing both sides against the middle . He gives the banks money then while knowing about their bonuses then says to the American people ... look at what the corporations are doing wrong and sits back and enjoys the trouble he has created . He openly states Micheal Vick deserves another chance ,, what about other Americans with records that stop them from obtaining work.. He doesn't give a shit about them . Any one ever wonder how much stock he owns in the banks and corporations he bails out ?. Go to the white house and get a demand a free beer with him and the police. Then vote nobody in 2012 in every election .

I admit some of the soap from my soapbox may have soaped up my thoughts! You are correct and I applaud you for the correction! My father may have served with you or even commanded you. My values, his and yours are very much in parallel.

This is not pragmatic at all. Everyone should be encouraged to vote, and I don't mean in the general elections, I mean in primaries. Primaries have what, like a 15% turnout rate normally, heavily in favor of the incumbent. If you don't like your representative then let's actually challenge them, either make them do their job, or even better, let's try to get a 3rd party going, or more realistically, primary the hell out of the Democratic party until a huge number of Dems in congress are just copies of Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren. A good deal of people with just vote D or R regardless of who's running, so let's get a progressive as hell candidate running in elections around the country and use that D to our advantage.

There is one effect this will have and that is a worsening of redistricting. As it is now, redistricting has allowed candidates to select supporters in groupings and label as new districts. A new district with 100% approval rating allows one to concentrate on the non-supporters, perhaps winning an election by a landslide. Sounds like a divide and conquer scenario to me. If fewer people vote, the redistricting may move to a couple dozen voters at a time and even smaller if things really get bad... Can you imagine a future where a state has hundreds of districts and where incumbent candidates regularly get repeat terms? Or a president, elected to office by less than 1% of the voters... NO! The responsibility of the American citizen - no matter your disgust or hate, is to VOTE! You are required to vote as a citizen of this country. If you don't - get the fuck out! You don't deserve the freedoms you have. If you see this as your right - to abstain in voting, read the constitution again and decide if you still feel American.

The only thing more stupid than voting is not voting.

There's a few politicians that actually take their responsibilities as public servants seriously and that still have integrity. Vote for those.
