Just finished watching this rather good video called "college conspiracy", regarding the problems with student loans and graduates with thousands of debt
The best parts are from minute 15 to about 22, and minute 45 to 50.

Get government out of the student loan business and you'll see how tuition and overall higher education costs will drastically come down, it's simple supply and demand. Also, they'll be less taxes... DOUBLE WIN.

You throw a ton of cash at colleges (or hospitals), and the natural result will be a rise in prices. The same would happen if the government started throwing a ton of cash at grocery stores (they'd raise their prices).

College is a scam in some instances and for some majors like liberal arts however I would not want to go to a doctor or surgeon without a college degree. I would not want to drive over a bridge designed by someone without an engineering degree.
There are professions that require formal education and others that do not. Many billionaires dropped out of college to start their business.
The choice depends on what you want to do with your life.
