This movement has one major advantage that the civil rights movement, anti-Vietnam War movement, and women's rights movements did not have. We are living in the information age and surrounded by communication technologies. We have to effectively embrace these technologies and use them to benefit the movement. Forums like this one are one example of this technology, but we are leaving an avenue unexplored.
I am founding an lobbying organization dedicated to representing the perspectives of the majority. We will be polling our membership to determine what issues we will take up. This type of polling used to be both slow and labor intensive before the internet. Now we can use the power of the technology that we have to develop statistically relevant data to bring to our elected leaders. In this manner we would be truly finding a way to represent the interests of the 99%. It is a democratic solution to finding consensus on what issues really are important to us and what we think should be done.
