All government policy should be subject to accounting: Barrels of oil per capita is an indicator of environmental preservation and national security; Income Gap is an indicator of civil rights, access to education, access to health care, and equal opportunity. Get the Aspen Institute to calculate the former. Get Krugman to calculate the latter. Don't make specific demands; Wall Street will always find a loophole. Indicators don't leave room for loopholes!
