I just wanted to write about something that has been bothering me for a while now, and was interested to know what you guys think.

the last few weeks I have been following the riots etc closely and I have noticed that the government of the united states is a hypocrite. There is no such thing as freedom of speech eventhough they advertise it through media.

So I am just curious to know what the hell happened to giving people the freedom of saying what they want to say while they are peaceful. why would they spray mace into people's eyes and beat them down when there are no violence from the citizens side?

How come when Iran, Libya or any other middle east country tried to shut the people down using force the United States and the president jump in the middle and claim that these are human rights violation but when it happens to their own people they try to justify it using lame excuses. How come president Obama is there when people of other countries are in danger, but when it comes to the people of america, he keeps quiet?

I also would like to mention that the NYPD consists of bunch of loosers who were bullied in high school or by the society due to the lack of social skills. But they should think about the fact that they are RUINING the name of police and all those people who fought for the United States and they are beating on their own brothers and sisters. if this means nothing to them , then they should just imagine their own families getting beaten up by a stranger for no reason.

I am also interested to know if human rights people are taking any actions against the NYPD or they are just taking their word that all the arrests were "justified" and ALL the videos were edited to make the NYPD look bad!!

PS I am not from US but always believed that if any country on the planet respected its citizens and would allow them to say anything they want was US but I guess it was all a great show!

Must watch, incredible video on the hypocrisy of our leaders and how we are oppressing our own people. We talk about democracy in the middle east while our police are brutalizing peaceful, unarmed Americans trying exercise free speech and freedom of assembly.

HA! If we actually defended our own Constitution and followed the law of our land, this wouldn't be a problem.

We have a country whose leaders blatantly fly in the face of our own Constitution.

And we also have a lot of citizens who are a bunch of cafeteria Constitutionalists. They give lipservice to the parts of the Constitution they like, and when it comes to parts they don't like (like the 10th amendment), they claim that it is a 'living document'.

You can't have it both ways - free speech, freedom of religion, freedom of assembly, right to be free from unreasonable search and seizure, for example - - but then, infringe on people's right to bear arms, deny citizens due process, take over powers granted to the states and the people, and - the most egregious of all - grant civil rights to corporations.

the US spends like 750 million dollars a year on propaganda directed outside the united states. 90% of what you hear about this county is B.S. made up by a marketing team with a nice budget. It is illegal for the propaganda they make to be aired inside the states for some perverse pro-corporation non-competition soft policy.

There is such thing as freedom of speech here in the U.S., I know because I talk about the Legalization of Industrial Hemp all the time and no one has sprayed me down with mace. There is just the problem of individuals with extreme anger issues.

well I agree that there are people with anger issues, but there are also people on the street that are peaceful and they still get sprayed down!!!

I know everyone just got 300K in support. I say they take some of that money and go buy every single protester Goggles from the dollar store, you'll be protect, and also, that way if the police put their hands on you, someone can catch it on video and post it, send it to the chief or even the president.

The U.S.A. is hypocritical, Barack Obama is the Prince of Hypocrites who fooled us all, and the police who are supposed to "KEEP THE PEACE" (!!!) are hypocritical when they club and mace nonviolent, non-threatening demonstrators in the hope of INTIMIDATING THE WHOLE NATION into silence and submission. It didn't work in Egypt and it ain't gonna work here either! In fact, it can only make the popular upsrising... even more popular.

The whole, ugly TRUTH will come out one day, trust me, and the whole world will be in shock. As Émile Zola said during the infamous "Dreyfus Affair": "La Vérité est en marche, et rien ne l'arrêtera" ("The Truth has begun to emerge and nothing can stop it now".)

How did a once proud and free country, a shining light to the whole world, become the beating heart of an oppressive, imperialistic global cabal?

rich men and women who were selfish and knew how to change a bill or two ruined our country. Heck, i'm trying to figure out how to fix those screw ups they screwed up so we wont be in this mess anymore.

Not from the US and YOU know all about the NYPD how? When you break the laws, there will be consequences.

[-] 1 points by nomad (2) 13 years ago

you see goeib, thats your problem. I read alot and I am interested in stuff like this. dont try to claim that all the NYPD actions shown on videos are justified. If a person is resisting an arrest then the officer is permitted to use force, but if they are peaceful, they should be respected.

You see Ghadafi also had excuses for his actions and they all seemed justified to him, but in reality the actions he took and decisions he made all had consequences and if you watch the youtube video right before he was killed, he got what he deserved, humiliation and a painful death that I honestly would wish on my worse enemy. Now you see NYPD can justify their actions by releasing statements like "all the arrests were justified" and other BS like "all of our actions were in self defense" but at the end they will get what they deserve.

Well - the youtube videos are viral all over the world....
