Forum Post: Unite around the financial speculation tax

The banks are charging us fees, let's return fire with fire. Demand that Congress pass the Financial Speculation Tax on instant and speculative trading on Wall St. This simple issue can unite the movement around the world- people should demand it of each of their markets and the money raised should go to support education for young people and otherwise ameliorate the effects of the global financial crisis. This issue has been around- introduced as a bill in Congress, backed by unions and research done on it: http://www.ips-dc.org/reports/taxing_the_wall_street_casino

This is something very simple and concrete, and can help galvanize the movement in the US and around the world.

Simple and stupid. Fuck me, how do you people think that taxes solve problems? What about a hippie tax? That would double the economy overnight. Seriously forget this inbred notion that you can tax your way to equality.

Here is a guidline for all there who are fighting for humanity. All of us need food, medicine, education and shelter. Nature has given these for free but some wicked evil minds made this a trade. They make money on life saving drugs, sell the dead bodies, have made education a luxury to be enjoyed only by wealthy. Make a simple demand that all these should be free and no corporate evil should be allowed to make profits from basic necessities fo humans. Wishing all out there a good luck and success.

To make something free to one person means forcibly removing it from another. Should teachers all bea volunteers? Carpenters build you a house for free? Seriously, get a brain.

SIGH

Financial speculation is conducted by and for the vast majority of Americans. If you trade stocks/bonds on Scottrade, that is called financial speculation. If you purchase a real estate for investment, that is called financial speculation. When you try to obtain a business loan from the banks, the banks are engaging in ... FINANCIAL SPECULATION.

Also, don't forget that the pensions and 401Ks are tied to stock/bond investments. With this tax, you would just be taxing yourself.
