A constitutional amendment overruling Citizens' United with language banning all corporate donations to political campaigns and 501's, as well as requiring that all interactions between federal officials and members of Congress be only in written form and thereupon be entered into the Congressional record for all to see.
No corporate money, no concentrated influence, and no back room deals.
I agree, this is a great idea. I also think there should be a "cooling-off" period between the time a representative can leave congress and become employed with a corporation. There is no way a member of congress should be allowed to leave congress, join a corporation and earn a six-figure salary. Are we not suppose to believe that foul play was involved? Oh yeah, we are.
Small steps, grasshopper.
haha. I know, but I just love that the 99% are finally getting together to discuss these issues. I
While I do see some issues here, I applaud you for making some specific demands and ideas.
Great idea. Thats what we need is Constitutional Amendments placed on the ballots of all states and passed by the people that severely limit the powers of the Fed and define campaign finance rules. That is the movement we should all be supporting.
Yes. I do not think that demands will do ANYTHING, but changing our political system will only occur when you address the root of it's corruption.
The public good must replace the corporate good and this the single most effective step I think that we can take.
I have been trying to do this for years, before the Tea Party even came to being. Need some lawyers on board who will draft the legislation free of charge, and then volunteers to go get signatures. I think the OWS and the Tea Party combined can do this if they agree only on this one point. Get back to our representative form of government.
isn't the problem the representatives ... vice the corporations? Just saying ... it's the representatives that are being bought off.
It is. I have said it should be Occupy Washington from day 1.
May I suggest ... the central bank challenge must be addressed prior to DC?
Central Bank > DC > TBTF banks > corporations ...
I think DC is the first place, because the federal government has pledged all rights and title to American productivity forever to the Fed. I have had success in smaller local settings, by organizing people against unpopular ideas, like placing a casino near a high school, and getting every person to show up to threaten any member who votes for approval with a recall. They always give up after dozens of people get mad and go after them directly. We need to put the fear of the people into the politicians and bring them to their knees. Make them remember who they represent. Then we can deal with the fed. The Fed while it has power, is so in tuned with the government that they enact to aid politicians to keep their jobs.
