It would be great to have a dedicated thread that posts about the Good and Positive things by individuals, groups and/or governments (but perhaps outside of specific political policies or elections), that are currently changing the landscape of humanity.
Not so much plans, theories or promises...but specifically, the literal bricks & mortar projects and efforts being put forth by people of this great earth whose innovative visions have gone to the next level of...action.
A showing of projects, large and small alike, that, at this moment, are actually coming to fruition because certain forward thinking people are not waiting for things to magically happen, but are truly living the life and 'being the change' they want to see in this world.
I think this world is going through a rather somber and dangerous time, and watching my own and others' kids being hit over the head with constant bad news, and seeing how that detrimental bleak burden is affecting them collectively, I feel it's important to lift that dark cloud with balance, by reminding them and ourselves, that there are an enormous amount of good and positive people in this world who are effectively managing to change this world for the better.
So, whether it's an environmental project, building a co-operative...or, just plain old fashioned 'Good News'...if you come across some great news, please post to your heart's content. Goodness knows, we could all use some of that.
I thought this article would be a good example...
from the article ~
"Ontario to convert largest coal plant in North America to solar farm.
Idled in 2013, and formerly the largest emitter in Canada, Nanticoke coal plant will be converted to a 44 MW solar installation."
"Ceasing energy production in 2013 as part of Ontario’s phase-out of coal energy, the enormous plant, which could produce almost 4,000 megawatts of power at full capacity, was officially shuttered for safety reasons last year. But the strip of land on the north shore of Lake Erie will soon begin churning out power once again—only this time, the electricity will be emissions-free.
As part of the Independent Electricity System Operator’s 455 MW power procurement announcement earlier this week, the Nanticoke, Ont. site will be repurposed to house a 44 MW solar farm.
“The Nanticoke project is a great opportunity for Ontario to take a former coal plant site and transform it into a clean and reliable solar power plant,” Michelle Chislett, SunEdison vice-president and country manager for Canada, said.
“This project is a great example of how countries are retiring coal plants and replacing them with clean, renewable power plants,” she added. "

There are many good news information outlets to which I visit regularly, for a good dose of inspiration. One of my favourites is 'UnF*ck The World'...

Hey Renny. There are all kinds of neat initiatives taking place, coops forming in particular.
It's weird how my knowledge of this beer came about. I remember sitting in a parking lot in Alaska finishing off my coffee and seeing this huge new tractor trailer truck in the lot with New Belgium Beer emblazoned on the side. I'm thinking that, I never heard of that beer. Soon after though, I did Google it up and found out that is a very successful cooperative.
Then several months later, I was in Florida and my sister's boyfriend told me that his son has worked for New Belgium beer in Ft Collins,Colorado for several years. I told him that was really cool, and shared my AK experience, and my limited knowledge of the company.
Then later when I was home in NJ, I listened to this cool PBS segment on it. The next day, I think it was, I sent this link to my sister and her friend in FL. They loved it. I hope that you do too.
And I don't know if they are in the Northeast yet, but like it said in the link, they were going to open a second brewery in North Carolina this year. When they do get to Canada, you can vote with your dollars, and have a good time too!... ;)

This man's 'earthy' approach to sustaining health and humanity as a whole, together with his clever use of media to engineer a healthy life revolution is inspiring indeed.

Think Global; Act Local; the micro & the macro; and as above - so below; all has a part to play and right now in The U$A - there's actually a POTUS wannabe with a really uniquely possible candidacy who can do more for The US 99% since FDR. We here on The OWS Forum - who desperately try to keep a light on for The 99% ... owe it to ourselves and the next generation to at least hear what this man has to say:
