Forum Post: Unconstitutional laws?

The problems with the protests are all the laws about park hours, permits, loitering on our public sidewalks, etc., that the government is using to try to shut down peaceful assembly. The First Amendment should make those laws illegal in the context of peaceful assembly. Are there any lawyers willing to go to bat in different municipalities for this idea?

In light of what is happening I think that needs to be revisited, then. The laws are interfering with peaceful assembly. There is no argument to oppose that.

The laws regarding protest permits, loitering, etc. have all been carefully considered at the highest court levels and scrutinized to ensure constitutionality, I assure you. The only violations going on are those who choose to break the law.

Yes, i do know that....Not all parks are private, though. Public parks close according to hours set by cities or counties or whatever entity controls them. Protestors in them and on public streets are being arrested for violating laws that interfere with our right to assemble. Public parks are not being used by protestors because of those hours, and marches require permits, so all the gov has to do is deny the permit. All these combine to making prohibitions against free assembly, which is in violation of the First Amendment.
