Forum Post: Two things happening next week....at the same time.

First ever nationwide emergency alert system.

It's different in the way it's being done. In the past the alerts were regional. When the alerts(tests) came out, each station had to "flip a switch" to make it over the air broadcast. Now they have installed "special equipment" to allow for the alerts(test) to interupt the stations' broadcast automatically. The brodcaster has no control over the "special equipment", except of course to pay for installation. Meaning the government now has the control to "flip a switch" on all broadcasters at once, without notice. Now ask yourself, when was the last times we NEEDED a national emergency alert? It was not used(that I know of) on 9/11. Usually these are reserved for weather emergencies, and sent out only to the areas affected.

Now for an asteroid passing closer to us than the moon.

This is a bit too conspiratorial for me.

Take the tin foil hat off please.

umm femas a real organization dummy and there really is an asteroid scheduled to pass us. Goddamn

[-] 1 points by SanityScribe (452) 13 years ago

Yea, I guess they think I hacked TWO government websites, and planted these stories.

If Cro-Magnon Man had your capacity for critical thought the planet would be run by jaguars today.

To steal something from sanityscribe Yea, I guess you really think that someone hacked TWO government websites, and planted these stories.

[-] 0 points by owstag (508) 13 years ago

You're really confused. I'm not saying the websites are hacked or that the 'stories' were 'planted'. The sites and stories are real, but there is nothing ominous about them, and they are in no way connected.

[-] 1 points by moediggity (646) from Houston, TX 13 years ago

No one has said that nor have they eluded to that. You jumped to that conclusion yourself. No one has said that there is a direct correlation between the meteor or the "overstepping of government boundaries" multimedia shutdown(which shouldn't be happening anyway.I mean, what if something bad happens or what if they really do try to fuck with all of us?) One I couldn't care less about. The other I'm seriously pissed about.Yes I know it's for the EAS test, but still this shouldn't include the internet. This just goes too far.

Congratulations! Your response is completely incoherent.

[-] 0 points by SanityScribe (452) 13 years ago

Facts are facts. You made the conclusion...not me.

[-] 0 points by owstag (508) 13 years ago

The only conclusion I have drawn here is that you are a conspiracy kook. Seriously, you should change your screen name to InsanityScribe.

[-] 0 points by SanityScribe (452) 13 years ago

LOL....Everything I posted is ABSOLUTE FACT. VERIFIABLE just using your mouse. I never said anything about any conspiracy. Just what is ACTUALLY happening. You can draw your own conclusion, as you have, and you really should not let facts get in the way I guess.

[-] 1 points by owstag (508) 13 years ago

Bullshit. You haven't presented a single fact. Really, it's 2011; even most of the craziest truther kooks have moved on. You wouldn't know a fact if it bit you in the ass. Do yourself a favor and learn how to critically evaluate evidence. One day when your head clears you'll realize what an ass you sounded like. There isn't a shred of evidence to support your crank conspiracy theories that can withstand critical scrutiny.

OMG....TWO government websites. Did you LOOK at them. I never said anything bad was going to happen. Just presenting GOVERNMENT issued information.YOU ASSUME TOO MUCH. If you think I am making this up, all I can say is........ WOW.

Not to worry if the Emergency Warning System goes off and it's not really an emergency, John Boehner will have their budget cut anyway. Nothing gets between him and Dancin' whith them Stars.

[-] 1 points by SanityScribe (452) 13 years ago

HA! Nice!

[-] 1 points by NortonSound (176) 13 years ago

Yes, it's actually nice to see the country so worked up for a change

[-] 0 points by owstag (508) 13 years ago

I saw both websites. They have absolutely nothing to do with one another. Your suggestion that the National Emergency Alert system is somehow connected to the asteroid is pure tin foil hat nonsense. There is absolutely no story here.

[-] 1 points by SanityScribe (452) 13 years ago

I never said it was connected. I never said it wasn't. I just presented information. What part I did type, is also fact, and verifiable. You put the conclusion there, not me. I understand if you are used to being spoonfed conclusions, but I do not do that. I just simply posted two articles dealing with two things happening, during which the timing of such things coincides. I believe each person can make their own conclusions, when presented with facts.

[-] 0 points by owstag (508) 13 years ago

You're full of shit. You're clearly trying to imply a connection (what, you just posted two websites selected at random? Riiiight). You're not smart or witty enough to play the sort of BS you're attempting. I wish I could say "nice try", but I can't; this is really quite extraordinarily stupid.

[-] 1 points by SanityScribe (452) 13 years ago

More insults? OK. Since that's all you got, well that and assumptions, I will say it to you "Nice try".

[-] 1 points by owstag (508) 13 years ago

It's not simply a matter of insults. Consider what you are claiming here:

You simultaneously call attention to a website about a National Emergency Alert System AND a separate website about an asteroid coming close to earth (something incidentally which is a regular occurrence and not something unusual or alarming, except to the uninformed - that'd be YOU ;) ). You then try to claim you aren't suggesting a connection. This is, quite simply, ridiculous. By posting the two together, with ominous allusions to 9-11, you are clearly suggesting the National Alert System is related to a possible asteroid strike. You should at least have the guts to acknowledge what you are implying; your failure to do so only makes you come across even nuttier.

I strongly suggest you take all of your medication as per your doctor's instructions.

[-] 1 points by SanityScribe (452) 13 years ago

I suggest that not everything is at it seems. They have a reason to implement this system, it may or may not, have to do with this particular occurance. Yes it is relatively common for asteroids to come close to earth. At the bottom of the page there is this....

"However, this will be the closest approach to date by an object this large that we know about in advance and an event of this type will not happen again until 2028 when asteroid (153814) 2001 WN5 will pass to within 0.6 lunar distances. "

I am not implying anything. Only reason for 9/11 reference, is because that is the last time I could think of when something like this could have been needed at a national level. My opinon, not that you haven't already made that for me, is that this is not for an asteroid hit. Not this one anyway, but I cannot predict the future.
