Forum Post: Troll tactic of the day

Posted 12 years ago on March 22, 2012, 1:15 a.m. EST by craigdangit (326)
This content is user submitted and not an official statement

Here are some of the things I've noticed trolls doing on this site in an attempt to draw attention away from our core issues and divide us.

  • Mentioning the war in Libya

  • Mentioning Guantanamo Bay

  • Mentioning the wiretapping program

  • Mentioning the NDAA

  • Mentioning gas prices, the falling dollar, the unemployment rate or the federal deficit.

If you notice anyone harping about these issues please don't feed them by arguing with them. Thanks

Lulz so troll tactics are to present problems about the government?

3 of the items you listed are main topics with the ACLU. So is the ACLU just a troll tactic?

The NSA unconstitutionally captures and stores 1.7 billion emails texts and more every day. So lets not talk about it because it's a troll tactic. - http://www.aclu.org/files/pages/fisainfographic3.pdf

The NDAA? So a bill that allows permanent warfare anywhere and allows detention without charge or trial is okay because it's a troll tactic to talk about? - http://www.aclu.org/blog/tag/NDAA

Guantanamo bay is only bad during the Bush era? Is that why you call it a troll tactic to talk about? Because it's not bad anymore? - http://www.aclu.org/2009/05/13/obama-administration-reverses-promise-to-release-torture-photos

You see any of the horrendous treatment of black people by the Libyan rebels. It only has news coverage from BBC and Al Jazeera and videos of torture are popping up online from the rebels themselves. - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4icorYD_mE&list=FLEwSllwonAZBCc7W3e27_dQ&index=1&feature=plpp_video

NATO commander admits that "flickers" of Al Qaeda and Hezbollah terrorists among the Libyan rebels. Claims it's not that all of them so it's not really as bad as it sounds - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtGe6zk52Cw

Gas prices are a bitch and people should be pissed at the companies raping their wallets. Should we say nothing?

You shouldn't argue against these topics because they are facts. Information should be spread not suppressed.

I think you are the troll tactic of the day.

Heeeere trolly trolly....

What is the alternative? Voting GOP? We need to unite behind Obama and forget any bad things he has done. Any mention of them is an attempt to dissuade us from voting this fall.

Darn it, I'm breaking my own rule. Arguing with the troll... ^_-

It's a shame, too. The law could have prevented Zimmerman from becoming crazed so easily, too.

lol

I'm not voting GOP or Obama. I will be voting for someone who doesn't have a violent pro-war foreign policy. I can't support pro-war candidates. We're pushing 12 years of war now and that's due to both Bush and Obama. I was rooting for Kucinich but ended up voting for Obama in 2008, for what I thought would be to end the wars quickly and use diplomacy instead of drone strikes. Since then I have just seen more war crimes and bombs striking nations that did not attack us.

It's funny being anti-war. When I spoke out against Bush the repubs called me a crazy liberal. Now when I speak out against Obama, the democrats call me a crazy GOP supporter. I think you just need to open your eyes to the truth.

Also most of what you listed in your post was passed by republicans in congress as well. Calling me a GOP supporter and a troll doesn't change the facts I presented to you. In the 70's they would have called me a hippie.

This is OWS. Both parties work for the 1%. One party is just more obvious about it and they really hate birth control for some reason.

Look, there are two sides here, good and bad. If you say anything bad about one of us, you are the other side and not to be listened to. Not un-cult like, I suppose.

The next possible war, with Iran, involves a confrontation with nuclear nations - Russia and China. Both countries have declared that they would defend Iran if attacked. This is a moment when a nuclear WW3 is a distinct possibility.

Regardless of who is elected, we should all support Resolution 107:

http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c112:H.CON.RES.107:

which declares that any president who get us into a war without congressional approval gets impeached. I know this is already the law of the land, but this resolution is meant to convey a more immediate reality to the president - go to war, get impeached.

[-] 1 points by craigdangit (326) 12 years ago

How about any Republican who gets us into a war gets impeached? Or maybe we can just exempt non-wars such as Libya.

[-] 1 points by arturo (3169) from Shanghai, Shanghai 12 years ago

Absolutely, Republicans, Democrats, immediately impeach any of them that get us into another undeclared war, then they will think twice about it.

[-] 1 points by craigdangit (326) 12 years ago

Alright. But it won't apply to Democrats, because a Democrat president has never started a war of any kind.

[-] 1 points by arturo (3169) from Shanghai, Shanghai 12 years ago

You may not consider Libya a war, but others certainly do. If he takes such an undeclared action against Iran, he could involve us in nuclear war with Russia and China, which have both stated they would defend Iran if it were attacked.

Craig, As a volunteer with MoveOn.org, are you paid in cash, food stamps, or do you troll on here for nothing?

[-] 1 points by craigdangit (326) 12 years ago

What is it with people claiming trolls are paid?

[-] 2 points by Mowat (164) 12 years ago

Sorry, but the falling dollar is not one of the trolls' issues for distractions. It is a core issue of OWS. The dollar's value is the buying power of the 99%. Printing more money is another form of taxation the FED enjoys doing to make people even more poor.

Please look-up :

Your core issues are that of the frigging bankers you pathetic excuses for freedom.. You are pissing on the people in jail and the word freedom...Saying you lot represent the %99 is stupid..All this forum does is divide. Let us not tolerate any outrageous conspiracy theories..lol You cant make this up.. This forum is more damaging to occupy than the frigging police and obama...In fact this forum would have us miss lead into supporting war criminals AND BANKSTERS...RONPAUL 2012

Every time you say that name I shrink like the Wicked Witch. Cut it out!

[-] 1 points by Puzzlin (2898) 12 years ago

Mirrors don't LIE. So, Craig, who's the Troll again?

[-] 1 points by craigdangit (326) 12 years ago

A lot of people on this site. What are you getting at?

[-] 1 points by factsrfun (8342) from Phoenix, AZ 12 years ago

You didn't mention anyone referring to Ron Paul, I mean have you heard any of Atlas? anyway speaking of trolls sometimes they have their use, I thought of this while responding to one. What do you think?

"This gets to the danger here, if the GOP is successful in establishing this right of the employer to have control over things earned by the worker, just because he pays the worker, where does it end?

I say this whole idea that the employer is buying the healthcare is wrong headed the employee pays for all costs of their employment with their labor, the employer pays wages and other things but does not “buy” them and therefore there is no first amendment issue at all, since it is the employee through their labor that morally pays for all costs and provides a profit to the employer, or the employee has no job. If viewed the other way the employer has moral responsibility for what you do on vacation, and we know that’s impossible since what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas."

I know this is not on point, just wanted your opinion.

[-] 0 points by craigdangit (326) 12 years ago

The employer does not have control over what is earned by the worker. What the worker earns is what they are paid.

Now, if you meant, the employer has control over what the worker creates, now that is a different story.

Purchasing and selling labor is little different from selling any other commodity or good. To say an employer is controlling a worker, because they make with him a contractual and consensual agreement to purchase labor, that is no different from saying a consumer is controlling a contractor by paying him to powerwash their deck. (I know that's not what you mean, that would be silly I know)

[-] 2 points by factsrfun (8342) from Phoenix, AZ 12 years ago

If they provide the healthcare without expectation of anything in return then you would be correct, if they expect someone to provide something for the healthcare you are wrong, Anything paid for by labor is as fairly and completely earned as any other, say for instance you enter a contract with a customer to do a job and are to be paid with a truck, does he retain the right to tell you what color to paint it.

[-] -1 points by JPB950 (2254) 12 years ago

So all benefits should be counted as income? I know it's a valid point of view, and I'm sure the IRS would like it. Not sure how it would go over with the workers that see benefits as tax free dollars, no matter who the GOP or anyone else says own those dollars.

[-] 2 points by factsrfun (8342) from Phoenix, AZ 12 years ago

If they do they are wrong there are tax advanatages but they are limited therefore benefits have always been considered as part of income, and they are morally in any case you earn what is paid out in your behalf the empoler has no right to interfer.

It seems they welcome dissent only if it agrees with their point of view. If you don't agree that this is wrong and the ban should be lifted immediately, you are a hypocrite. Otherwise known as a hypoccupier or a hypoccutard.

[-] 0 points by ForrFredom (-22) 12 years ago

Hypocrite = a person who acts in contradiction to his or her stated beliefs or feelings.

Quoted from your Statement of Autonomy: "We welcome all, who, in good faith, petition for a redress of grievances through non-violence. We provide a forum for peaceful assembly of individuals to engage in participatory democracy. We welcome dissent."

I have not been welcome since I came here. My voice has been suppressed. I am not allowed to speak my dissenting opinions.

At the bottom of the jpg. I quote "take your dissention elsewhere."

At the bottom of this jpg. I quote "you are banned."

Hypocrites!!!

Mentioning Obama's accomplishments (as if it's anything to be proud of).
