top ten reasons to join OCCUPYWALLST.

  1. There's a damn good chance you will get your picture taken of, or get a sound bite on TV.
  2. Jeff Magnum, Kanye West. You know the celebrities will start limousining in and who doesn't want to see that?
  3. Fictional weirdos are cool, but real live ones are even better, and for all the true importance and seriousness of this cause, the park or camp or unit, whatever they call, doubles as a freak show, a little bit.
  4. Lot's of attractive, largely unemployed people. Interpret as you will.
  5. You can actually wear whatever you want there and not feel weird. It's like Halloween all year round (I know this connects back to the semi-freak show point, but I count it as distinct.)
  6. How often do we have, let alone get to actually participate in, historical movements. We live in a world in which every nationality gets a revolution except ours, and one without any real chance of bloodshed or even prison, come on that's easy historical pickings. Besides, do you really not want to have something in your pocket to tell your grandchildren about, when they doubt that once you were actually kind of cool.
  7. We think these problems don't affect us, but they do, both directly and indirectly. We just don't know enough to understand how. That line of thinking is a real possibility we dismiss with too much nonchalance.
  8. Let's face it. They seem to actually be right, at least about some important essential matters. In all fairness, I haven't read enough, but something in me says that when truly respected, non-fringe professors and philosophers begin to back this movement, It becomes much harder to indulge cynicism and dismiss them off the bat, and my second hunch is that the more you read, across the board on the political spectrum you will see they fight for enough truth to warrant your interest, if not your participation. (Here's the cynicism and here's why it's incorrect: We would normally think, ugh, politics, come on, we are so past politics, everything there reeks of corruption and it's pointless to care, but here's the problem, because the real fear, besides just plain old apathy and laziness stems from the fear that learning about the issues forces us to choose, and making choices, choices that are often stances upon developing events and ideas open us up to the chance of making the wrong choice, essentially to faults and ridicule and for some, for all, that's scary, especially in a world where you rarely need to make those types of choices.)
  9. When's the last time you stood up for something without worrying about embarrassment towards genuine, or unironic, or unhip feelings or causes; to actually care enough about something larger than the normal world you limit yourself to?
  10. Because what else are you doing that's so much more important?

On #10 - I could be working, to earn money so that I can feed my family. I could be working, to create jobs, so that other people can get a leg up and feed their families.

It started out a little shaky but it got more serious as you went. At first i thought you might be trying to insult #OWS but then it became clear you were doing humor.

And your right with #10 what could be more important than changing the country or even maybe the world or part of it. Nothing stands a better chance at this than Occupy...... at least nothing most of us would live through anyway.
