Americans make up half of the world's richest 1%

It only takes $34,000 a year, after taxes, to be among the richest 1% in the world.

So OWS is really just a bitchfest for the top 1 or 2% of the world.

And 100% of humans live on a resource rich planet capable of sustaining life. The only one ever confirmed to exist in the entire observable universe. So all humans are in the 0.0000000000000000000000000000000000001% Anyone can play silly number games.

The point remains that the working poor in the United States are suffering everyday, and you make snide arguments so that you can feel better about not giving a fuck, or doing a damn thing to help.

They are "suffering everyday"? You don't know the definition of suffering. And you obviously are not an immigrant who has come from a country of war, famine or dictatorship.

Even the worst in the US is doing amazing and have an opportunity for a great life. OWS is just a motley crew of privileged, top 1% people bitching for handouts from the top 0.1%. How pathetic.

I see your point, but your number are a little off, and you have to consider your point is a relationship to cost of living and wages in an area.

If you are at poverty level in US, about $12,000 a year, you are at top 15% of the world income. Also, half of the US lives below, at, or near poverty. A recent study was released which showed the shocking number.

In New Jersey, the average wage is $15,900. The median wage is $39,000. In NJ, the average wage includes all the people who work, period. This means, all the part timers, contractors, and people who only may work a couple of months a year are included in the average.

However, the amount of money you make is relevant to how much it costs to live. So if you live in the middle of nowhere India, and you make $3,600 a year working in a call center, but you can rent a place for $600 a year, and attend a top university for $300 a year, you are doing well.

But if you live in NJ, where a room rents for $800 a month, the cost of public transportation is $3000 to $5000 a year to get to work, you are in serious trouble.

That's $34K per person, but you are basically right, we are very well off as a nation. That's probably why calls for some kind of popular revolt go unheard and unanswered.
