Forum Post: To Oust a Congressman: Step One

This content is user submitted and not an official statement

"Between April and November of 2012 in Manchester, a small ragtag group of Occupy activists teamed up with CREDO SuperPAC’s small ragtag organization, with its bare-bones funding and staff, and for seven months used a combination of direct action, narrative control and tried-and-true political organizing techniques to build a movement that turned a once-popular congressman’s name into a toxic brand even his supporters were reluctant to embrace."

Sounds like you're praising with faint damnation.

once the republican fade into history,

the democratic party will find it hard to stand without them

Notice too, that the affinity group was NOT afraid to point out and fix an issue with a (R)epelican't.

If a similar issue arises with a Dem, I would have NO problem with a similar reaction, but there's a lot of (R)epelican'ts to go..

They don't have that FEAR in Turkey either.

They are ready, willing, able and attempting to get involved.

There is Too much at stake to play the hands off game, and they know it.

Politically, it's even more complicated in turkey.

What they lack is the marketing and advertizing prowess of the US.

I suppose what I am referring to is the much higher number of parties in their parliament.

The clarity of intent among those parties is much clearer there.

In the end though, I guess I'm just trying to figure out why they lack the FEAR of involvement that is prevalent here.

They seem to have a much better understanding of the need for a completely secular government as well.

You've just described what is so strong here, and so lacking in Turkey.

Most of the younger people I meet, lack the tools to talk about politics.

They don't really understand what it is, so they react with frustration and dismissal.

Yes.....you are.

bullshit, zilla. You always were.

Did you run out of childish gifs and jpegs?

I would love to see something similar happen to the woman in Wisconsin.

[-] -1 points by FearAgent (-59) 11 years ago

you can't find the courage to bad mouth a D who uses the N word and you expect us to believe you'd support removing one from office? I bet you're a Bob Filner man, aren't you? That would explain whatever your war against that woman in WI is.

Oh, zilla.............................

Only in your small and twisted world is "bad mouthing" a thing of courage.

If you'd been keeping up, you know that Occupy identified that woman already.

But you don't.. that's not at all why you are here.

if we voted with our names; we could cast votes anytime we wished

Someone here called me a liar when I posted my actual name.

I won't do that again.

consistency helps

the two party system will suffer immersion when cast into the net data

This possibility for change shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. There were activists setting up occupations all across the country in literally hundreds of congressional districts in the fall of 2011.

At the very least congressional candidates could have been forced to take a stand on issues relating to income equity. At best we could have gotten enough new candidates elected to start the process of real change.

It comes as a surprise to many of the posters here, who have already completely ignored this important development.
