Utopian Fiction had its heyday at the turn of the 20th century and Bellamy's Looking Backward was at the forefront. There were even movements in various cities at that time where groups tried for popular support for the type of society idealized in that book.
The 'revolution' in the book (expounded upon in Equality) was waged largely at the ballot box by The National Party and the goals were the same as ours today. We seek a society free of the crushing brutality and coerciveness of certain capitalists where many must sell our freedoms to the lowest bidder simply to live. It's tough weeding through information in a completely controlled propaganda state where everything you see, hear, taste, touch and smell from cradle to grave is controlled and manipulated by the ruling classes.
Bellamy decries the nakedness of the system and describes the creation of a society of equality where each persons' value is 1; rather than their cash nexus. He goes into some detail. You can find the full text online. Some of his ideas are a tad over the top, but it puts me in a good mood when I read it.
Keep it peaceful Keep it leaderless and organic Tolerate the naysayers; we are doing this for them too. They simply have yet to wake up. Remember that the revolution should be inspired by our best hopes for a world, and not by hatred for the current maze. YOU ARE INSPIRING MILLIONS and we have been waiting for this moment for generations.
Beginings ideas:
- Recognize the world court and have US war criminals brought to justice.
- Nationalize all for-profit Financial Institutions for a period of 5 years to start.
- Make it illegal to profit from supplying the military.
