I suggest we splurge on some new treasury management software for the folks over at the Federal Reserve. Time is money and the United States has a lot of both -- time and money. We take in voluminous amounts of cash daily and our nation spans multiple time zones. When we travel east or west, we can either gain time or lose it. Money can travel as well. Bank accounts are linked through various time zones to form conduits. Money flows through these pipelines and it can gain or lose interest depending on the route that it takes. The concept is simple but the application becomes complex. Our government has so much to work with, it’s important that they plan this itinerary carefully.
For example, the Twelfth Federal Reserve District located in San Francisco. It includes several time zones and it crosses The International Date Line. There are things like nautical time and daylight savings time to consider. If the Fed is not careful our money could disappear into thin air! That’s why it would be a good idea to update their computer software. Let’s help the Federal Reserve find the time -- and use it.
I say just do away with it.
