I don't support the Tea Party so I simply don't support their forums. I have never gone to a Tea Party website and typed in misspelled insults that really don't make sense (really, what is a fagtort?).
But I have noticed that there seems to be a lot of trolls on these boards and, while they have a right to their opinion, and I will defend that right, I'm a little lost on why they take the time to post meaningless insults instead of constructive debate, which actually might add to the conversation.
Don't get me wrong, please feel free to say something critical and contrary, but saying something smart and following it up with "but I guess you fagtorts wouldn't know anything about that" just discredits you.
I have been thinking about ways people can support Occupy from anywhere and I'm wondering if every time we see a blatant insult (and not a constructive criticism), we go to http://whoismyrepresentative.com and send an email supporting Occupy Wall to our representatives, then responding to the post, "Letter sent. Thank you for your support."
This morning, public opinion stopped the Mayor of New York so I have a renewed hope in letter writing. Any thoughts on this?
The way I see it is that both political parties benefit from hate and fear. It is easy to blame someone else for something. Both parties, especially republicans, take advantage of this. I know you didn't suggest this, but if we went to troll on their forums with the same tactics, we'd be helping them.
I think this forum does a fairly good job at dealing with trolls. Not all of them are trolls either, and a lot of them basically invite a troll fight unintentionally by not being politically correct, taking troll bait.
Interesting ideas.
Now THAT'S what I call creativity!!!
