Forum Post: This turning bad

This movement was once okay. Violence, drugs, threating to burn down buildings... turning very bad. This has to be done politically. Peaceful demostrations are fine but arrests, taking over public transportation, trying to shut down world markets etc... is not going to work and alienate us from everyone. I dont have the answers but this will not end well if we continue down this path.

Just numbers will accomplish more... Stay peaceful...

Let tens of thousands show up. Don't shut down streets, the sheer numbers will accomplish this.

Do not TAKE anything, that is what THEY want.

Spread out everywhere... don't stay in one spot. Let the movement gain strength. This is not the LAST day, but rather one of the FIRST.

the Occupy needs to get ijt's act together and develop a coherant message. it can do this by go ing after the head of the snake -THE FEDERAL RESERVE! -ther federal reserve is a private corporation, not part of the governmetn, they like to masquerade as a govt. entity, but they are not. they are the ones who cut regulations so that billionaire bankers can enrich themselves, the fed and the bankers run our govt. by proxy, WAKE UP!

Wow, this forum allows free speech or you spammers would not be here. Why are you attempting to stifle free speech? Who pays your salary?

Don't they understand... Moving barriers, sitting in streets, shoving police, it is playing into the hands of those that do not want OWS to succeed...

Remain peaceful at all cost...

Even CNN is reporting that OWS is turning violent.

Don't be stupid. Get mad but stay peaceful... You 'workers' have a job now, but what about next year when a corporation decides they no longer need you.

Or when the next bank decides to create another LAND GRAB.

Your children and their children's future is at stake and these Patriots are trying to do something.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING?

Sitting in your office being an obedient slave? In your bank owned home acting like everything is okay? When will you learn?

You people that still have jobs should begin a sick-out in support of these Americans who are suffering at the hands of corporations and banks.

Prediction: Thousands today... millions tomorrow...

Campaign Finance Reform. Boom.

Right. What this movement needs are numbers of people involved. These kinds of actions are counterproductive to getting reasonable Americans to sign up.

False, unoriginal, unthoughtful, reactionary, trollism. You should be ashamed get some new material. This boilerplate shit is getting very very old.

When you have educated individuals collecting in a movement, there will always be the bad few who jump on the bandwagon. What happened with OWS is that the bad "few" became the bad "many," and overran those who were sensible. The proposed direct democracy structure will only lead to the destruction of the movement as a whole because those who have reason will be outvoted by the audible, unreasonable majority and end up leaving all together.

I would agree except the forces of corruption, and rightwing fascist propaganda are building to shut this down. Do you honestly believe that the international thugs, and murderers that perpetrated this larceny are going to just surrender? They must be shut down, and brought to the harsh public justice they deserve. The answer is to bring the machine of global crony capitalism to a grinding halt unless strong measures are taken to bring international criminal conspirators to justice in the Hague, in NY or where ever is required. It is not true that laws for the prosecution of these vile thieves don't exist. What is needed is strong unyielding pressure from the population saying they demand punishment for these murderers. And yes they are guilty of murder as well as grand larceny, and fraud. The evidence is overwhelming. Violence is never the answer but civil disobedience is essential. These people are ruthless criminals in pin striped suits that would snuff you out in a microsecond for walking on their lawn. Don't you forget it. The entire banking system needs to be completely reconstructed. The US congress must be completely overhauled starting with the criminal Republicans and then the republicans in sheeps clothing IE. blue dogs. Once we are rid of them then we can throw the liars and traitors out of the Democratic party

They are behaving peacefully. It is their right to assemble and demand change. They have brought much needed attention to how Wall Street has contributed to the problems this nation has by paying lobbyists in Washington to grease the palms of politicians. Disrupting business is not a bad thing if much good comes from it. The St Patricks Day parade and its ilk disrupts the city and subways far more with the crowds they draw.

It started off with a good cause. Due to lack of actual "action", now it's just a bunch of bandwagoning entitled hippies who are kinda bummed they couldn't hold a job long enough to rise to the top and turn themselves into somebody with influence (probably because they spent all day in the park protesting instead).

[-] 1 points by MyHeartSpits (448) 13 years ago

over 30% of the country are hippies?

[-] 0 points by jasonc (12) from Brooklyn, NY 13 years ago

Before I answer that, there are approximately 300 million people in this country. Just to clarify, are you claiming that 100 million of them are down on Wall Street protesting? Because I only see a few thousand, and they're in my way.

[-] 1 points by MyHeartSpits (448) 13 years ago

No, I was speaking of polls that show at least 30% support the movement.

[-] 0 points by jasonc (12) from Brooklyn, NY 13 years ago

I see. I'm speaking of the misguided self-righteous loudmouths that have destroyed the credibility of that 30% (that 30% that I am part of).

As for your question, I do not know if over 30% of the country are hippies. Should we conduct a poll? I bet a Facebook poll would tell us.

[-] 1 points by MyHeartSpits (448) 13 years ago

Whatever, I think your anger is misguided. People are people; you can't expect them to be something different. Either we include all or we don't. If we don't, we're partisan and we're the same as any other group out there.

You don't want to actually classify them as a terrorist organization, and quite honestly they're not a terrorist organization until they make a concerted effort as a movement to use lethal force on American citizens. If the movement starts doing that, then that classification is appropriate; if it's assigned prematurely all you'll do is piss them off that you may see tactics worthy of a terrorist group.

Well, today's action is named after a Marxist Terrorist Organization - N17 . . .
