So many ideas floating around without a basic goal of what we are trying to achieve and how we are going to achieve it.
A press conference with a public presentation of any Demands should be announced by whomever formed Occupy Wall Street. Sorry, but the American public is too deeply programmed to want to hear a "representative" or an "authority." Until that happens, the financially and ideologically-controlled mass media will continue to only interview Zombie idiots and deadhead-hippie-peaceniks with limited high school english skills and vague ideas. Any movement without a leader sounds (to most uniformed, undereducated fellow Americans) like "terrorism" or Anarchy, which is the biggest bogeyman. So, No the movement will NOT disintegrate if you are willing to learn from those in control and reach out to ALL Americans in a a way they will understand and be willing to listen to. DO the press conference and be willing to be targeted, I.D'd and incarcerated by the Feds, CIA, cops, etc. Remember the Founding Fathers, Founding Farmers and Gandhi? You have to be willing to REALLY go public and stand up in public to the Powers That Be.
I happen to be a deadhead-hippie-peacenik and my English skills are better than yours. Vague ideas? Well contexman, that is what appeals to me about this "Occupy" movement. You will notice, if you take your head out of the sands Huntington Beach and your eyes of the bikinis thereof, that the paradigm being created by this movement is the beauty of it. Not having a leader who can be targeted gives this group an unusual power. It confuses the powers that be, and scares the scales off their goldfish. Gandhi was indeed a super leader, but it was the millions of faceless, nameless Indians who brought the English empire to an end. We do not need a Gandhi (any more than his non violent ways) because we have this here thing called instant mass communication. And you know what? The powers that be are behind the power curve and on the wrong side of history
We need to keep expanding n getn more people together around the nation we need to come up wit the 99% ideal commandments we all stand by we need to set a date /time when we will have our ideas read gain media attention explain to the uninformed r purpose
We are gaining the wrong media attention by having a bunch of idiots be a part of the movement when they don't even know what the movement is about! It is undermining the movement. If a movement is to be started a basis should be made to help the public understand why are they there for.
The idiots are welcomed but it is our jobs to teach these idiots.
If it does, it's really okay. You see it has sparked something big and, despite the chance that it might disintegrate, others will pick up not long afterwards. Don't you see? Power rests with the people and we're beginning to understand it.
Check the link after the edit mark on this page for a working list of goals http://occupywallst.org/forum/first-official-release-from-occupy-wall-street/
and this Warning from the original Tea Party before it got hijacked http://occupywallst.org/forum/an-open-letter-and-warning-from-a-former-tea-party/
I'm not here to bash the movement, not at all. Just some constructive criticism. People should coordinate and plan better and find common goals and methods to reaching these goals.
It needs time to form into a coherent shape. Right now is the gathering. Once that is settled down some (which takes time) the message will emerge, it's not going to be the same for all regions. This may have formed spontaneously but in the end there will be some organization it just needs time. The movement is only weeks old. Everyone wants answers but at the moment there aren't any.
thanks for helping with the entropy with more useless threads and no substance.
Thank you for applying your sarcasm to every post. People need to start grouping together as far as goals because everyone is just asking "What is this movement about?"
to start, bother to read the forum threads, which have answered that and other questions dozens of times.
Thanks for your suggestion. I already know the basis of the movement. I am just stating that everybody has too many opposing ideas rather than getting to the foundational goal of it all in order to come into a consensus with each other. We are not here to go against each other and our views but rather join together to create a collective view.
Removing the influence of money from the government should be the primary stated goal. Being leaderless with varied opposing veiws is a strength, it prevents clear labeling.
i agree. and the core problem in that is the organizational structure. so if we are going to deal with that we need to focus, and to focus we need to understand the lmitations of the tool we are using and do things like keep one basic conversation in one basic thread and etc. I'm just stating this generally please don't take anything personally.
Understood. We've met the limitations of the tool that is being used now, public acknowledgement. I keep seeing videos of people looking like idiots representing the movement so we need to gather all the idiots and hand them papers about what is the movement really about because all they are doing is undermining it.
