This movement is BEYOND left, right, Republican or Democrat. It's like motherhood or child protection or human rights, such BASIC COMMON SENSE values that any sane human being should be in favor.
The problem in America is that over the past few decades, the lunatics seem to have taken control of the asylum... Hopefully by now most of us have seen the movie "Inside Job" Many of the principal players in the 2008 collapse are clearly sociopaths. Greed is a very human foible, but at that degree it becomes pathological and a menace to the very survival of human society. These people must be charged and the system which gave them free rein must be changed.
The alternative is clear : either we move decisively in that direction as OWS is doing... or do nothing and let America self-destruct. This is NOT about political stripe, it is about basic SANITY and collective SELF-PRESERVATION!
I try to explain this to the right wing tea party types....they just keep bringing up Obama and all the political fights they have been having.
I admire your patience in even engaging in such discussions. It's rare and very commendable.
Sometimes I'd like to start an "Americans for Sanity and Self-Preservation" Movement... but since common sense doesn't "excite" the usual emotions, I suspect it would have limited appeal.
So I just hope and pray that is the general direction that OWS is headed in. I also pray that a good, solid, common-sense woman or man will eventually emerge as a true leader and perhaps one day govern a New America.
