Third Eye Blind have recorded a song for the Occupy Wall St movement. It's available free on their Facebook page, no strings attached Fair play to them!
Have to give Third Eye Blind credit: at least they're stepping up, and coming out in support. Most other bands appear scared to death.
Here's another new protest track, this one a cover of the fist-shaking 60s protest / garage rock anthem “SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME”: http://tinyurl.com/7p93vvm
The lyrics are all too relevant, especially given the head-in-the-sand attitude The Powers That Be and the media seem to have regarding the 99% movement:
“There’s a new sun rising up angry in the sky. There’s a new voice crying but not afraid to die. Let the old world make believe it’s blind and deaf and dumb BUT NOTHING CAN CHANGE THE SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME.
There are changes lying ahead on every road. There are new thoughts ready and waiting to explode. When tomorrow is today, the bells will toll for some. BUT NOTHING CAN CHANGE THE SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME.
The future’s coming on sweet and strong, And no-one’s gonna hold it back for long…
There are new dreams crowding out old realities. There’s revolution sweeping in like a fresh new breeze. Let the old world make believe it’s blind and deaf and dumb, BUT NOTHING CAN CHANGE THE SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME. “
(BTW, the whole album is pretty decent, if you are into that vintage 60s garage rock thing. It's a free download http://tinyurl.com/7od26by)
They re-wrote Jumper without the anti-suicide message. It's now about how OWS should engage in a mass suicide.
haha! at least they're not trying to sell something like Jay-Z!!!
