I'm not at all convinced none of those marches had any effect. Both the civil rights and the anti-war movement seemed to have gained ground imo.
yep, and they were nationwide protests that took years. ows is in washington d.c. right now as well. there is no need for everyone to go to washington, because again, this is more than nationwide. simply, it's a distraction to keep harping the washington nonsense.
I have argued with others who have insisted that it move to DC, and said I think that DC is probably just as aware of NYC as they are of DC. However, I remember (being an old guy) the time the anti Vietnam war protests prompted Nixon to go down to talk to some of the protesters, (much to the dismay of the secret service). As far as your statement that it took years, that's true, however Nixon did withdraw from Vietnam within his tenure. If the people in this movement expect instant results, they're probably in for a disappointment.
