Thanks to points by frovikleka who reminded me of this: The world-wide revolution is well underway, Just don't expect the 7 companies that own mainstream news worldwide to allow their news stations to cover it.

That's right. The revolution is happening right now.

How many Americans know of the 100,000 plus people who were out in the streets of Montreal on multiple occasions who refused to cower to their governement, or the tens of thousands of people in Iceland (with a population of 320,00) who demanded that people interests come before the banker's interests. That is to say nothing of all the people out in the streets throughout the world demanding an end to the neoliberal policies that got us to this point. The world has indeed awoken, but to report this news accurately would only accelerate this world-wide revolution so you can be sure that the C (CORRUPT/Corporate owned)MSM will not be there.

Damn right. So true. That's why I think we, the millions of Americans who are awake to what's going on here should do this: http://occupywallst.org/forum/we-dont-see-the-power-we-have-in-our-hands-to-tran/

I believe that the departure of Americans from the CMSM is well underway. I canceled my subscription to my local paper, the Asbury Park Press last year, and ever since, I have been hounded by them to renew it. Every time that they call, i let them know in polite terms why i have done so. The last call was from an intelligent young lady who is a college graduate, and cannot find a job commensurate with her education. By the end of our 10 minute conversation in which we talked about student debt, and the problems with having a corporate owned MSM, I know that she understood, and respected my reasons for not renewing my subscription.

One of the best web sites that i know of is Truthdig. Just before leaving for Alaska in late October, I made up about 75 new (I have done this before, but up-dated them a bit) hybrid flyers on bright green, and orange paper. They fold in half like a book, 4 sides. I left these off at mostly coffee houses out there, 2-3 at a time. I continue to do this here, leaving them off at super-market sale paper bins, libraries, laundry-mats, etc., as i have done for the past several months before leaving for AK. In these flyers, i direct people to docs, web sites, etc. I also try to engage as many people that i can in conversation both here, and while I was in AK. Lastly i challenge people in my flyers.

CHOOSE THE WORLD THAT YOUR KIDS GROW UP IN

SUPPORT OCCUPY WALL STREET or DON'T COMPLAIN and

THE CORRUPT STATUS QUO WILL CONTINUE BY DEFAULT

THE CHOICE IS YOURS

Awesome. That's so cool. What links and sites do you put on those fliers? Any favorites?

I agree with you on Truthdig. Wonderful.

It really does make life so much grander entering in dialogue with others on the important issues of the day, the real ones.

Thanks. Despite having made the fliers up quickly, they turned out fairly well...big lettered headings...plain-spoken...back page is copied from an Occupy flier, etc. but I did not include near as many sources to go to as I could have. For the docs, I had; Inside Job..... Money Power and Wall Street.... The Warning... Meltdown ...Why We Fight.... The Power Principle.... and Lifting The Veil. For web sites though, I only had Truthdig.... Truthout.... Occupy Wall Street.org.... and Public Citizen. I should have also had Democracy Now, Firedog Lake, and Mother Jones. What am I missing? I was kinda thinking about making it a thread on here, and asking for a critique, but errr, I'm afraid of what i might get back. lol

Great fliers and links. I think you nailed it. Seems like wetting their whistle without pushing too hard is the key. I love the casual leave behinds. People pick those up with zero pressure and explore. A little seed is planted...Then reinforcement in the world. . . Then the forwarding of links and discussion begins.

Agreed, having the 'discussion/conversation begin' is another key to our success. Under the heading, WHAT CAN YOU DO? , on my flier, I wrote:

FIRST you can turn away from The Main-Stream Media, as it is corporate owned, and hence they advance the interests of the wealthy few at the expense of the majority. We urge you to start the CONVERSATION with others to understand how this corrupt system has played out on most of us, and/or our loved ones in detrimental ways, and how we no longer have a government that represents our interests.

Even though, I humbly admit that I do not understand the mathematical concept of exponential growth, i do know that this movement has a chance to grow exponentially. Many Occupy supporters are not near active movements, and many others because of health reasons, or simply not having the time, cannot take part in protests. I understand that, but stuff like this is easy to set up, and implement, and there is little expense involved. I have a little pile of these fliers in my car, and whenever I think of it, I drop them off (mostly in sale paper bins) at businesses that I frequent.

The other thing that I did, and have wrote about before is, I stamp many of the dollar bills I have with, "NOT TO BE USED FOR BRIBING POLITICIANS....Amend the Constitution." Like I said, I got that stamp at Union Square from Ben Cohen, founder of Ben & Jerrys for a $10 contribution. I can truthfully say that those bills have been showing up from New Jersey to Alaska...even in Sarah Palin's home-town of Wasilla....imagine that! ;-)

If we all did what you do, this nation would be a whole different place :). And we're heading in that direction with more and more people waking up. Thanks so much Odin for all your comaraderie, spirit and wisdom. It spreads like a brushfire :)

Thanks, but there are people in OWS that are doing tons more than me. I will be seeing some of them this Monday in NYC.

Here's another great quote from a man who graduated from one of my daughter's alma mater, Fordham.

"The difference between a successful person [struggle], and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge but rather a lack of WILL." Vince Lombardi"

I agree. And I think that can sometimes be contagious :)

Hmmm - this post never got the attention and participation that it should have.

Take a moment.

Consider a national commercial.

A national commercial touting how wonderful American broadcasting is.

Consider that it gives an internet address.

Consider that it is touting the virtues of American Broadcasting.

Now - CHECK OUT THEIR WEB SITE = Americanbroadcasters.com

Let me know what you find - really - I expect you to find nothing.
