In case no one brings else this up, there are about 12 million unemployed American construction workers. There are about 12 million illegal Mexicans. How many IT jobs are in India? Almost all of our manufacturing jobs are now in China. My thought would be to get these jobs back, but everyone seems to over look this. If we had all these jobs, unemployment wouldn't exist. The real reason, in my opinion, is Americans don't want to work. The so-called 1% don't really work (at least not very hard) but they have all the money. Most of 99% don't want to work unless it's easy work (playing on computers). What happened to the real work force? Where are the HARD working people this country was founded on? How did we allow all of our jobs to go non-Americans? I think the answer is most, if not all, of us are lazy. The rich and poor alike. Before we change our laws and government, maybe we should change ourselves first. It's harder to change yourself than to change others. If we don't, we're fucked.
Stop importing from China, re-open the factories, go to work. Before that, be determined to do it. Be prepared to work hard for eight hours. Be willing to sweat for it. Earn it.
Yes, the GATT treaty sent our jobs to China. That was the corporate friendly move by Bill Clinton. It was deliberate and done billion dollar corporations could increase profits How are we to compete with China when they have slave labor?
