Forum Post: The "Tea Party" and "OWS" actually have a lot in common.

This may sound like heresy.......but....the Tea Party and the OWS crowd should try to find "some" common ground. If everyone could "check" their "emotions" at the door, we could put an end to the bank & corporate bailouts in short order. They Tea Party crowd would love to see some Wall Street bankers go to jail (that's only if they violated any US laws).

Once that was accomplished, everyone could go back to the their respective "corners", and come out fighting again. The only thing stopping this is "political party affiliation". Let's not let the two "ruling" parties "divide and conquer" us. BOTH parties are hunkered down in smoked filled rooms plotting against both movements as we post.

This post is very true and deserves consideration. I was debating whether or not OWS was a hate-based movement with a OWS member today and ended up comparing the takeover of the Tea Party by religious wing-nuts with the tendency of OWS supports to preach hatred of corporations and the end of capitalism. Like the Tea Party, this movement will lose focus and credibility unless it defines and limits its scope and objectives. Otherwise, it is nothing but a big ball of emotion and will accomplish little.

The Tea Party has accomplished a lot (for good or bad is another debate); however, they have made a huge impact none the less. Can the OWS group accomplish something of REAL substance. It's still too young of a movement to assume they will or they won't. I just hope that what ever they do accomplish it is in the best interest of 100% on the American people....not just 99%. I hope that wisdom prevails.

This so called progressive movement is decidedly conservative. Surprise, surprise... and do not forget who created you.

... Except being paid for by Koch Industries... and not having convictions for hate crimes....

Way too emotional.

Yes they do, but unfortunately the Tea Bag gers are just too damn shallow to realize it.

You make my point about "emotions" getting in the way.

LOL well with "emotion" comes passion, the key is not to kill your emotions but not let them override your rational mind. It could be said that emotion can some times make one naive and waste their energy on something that will not happen. It takes two to come to agreement and the Tea Bag gers will never be able to see beyond their prejudices and shallow bigotry. look how fast they were co opted by the right wing... but good luck on your quest, who knows you may do some good.

Well.....nothing ventured....nothing gained. Try to look for some common ground. I know that it's somewhere to be found. Neither side is going anywhere, so we need to get along; However, I will write you off as far as inviting a Tea Bagger to dinner.

There is common ground. It lies in the system of legalized corruption and graft called campaign finance and lobbying. It really doesn't matter if you want to blame the Government for being corrupt or blame the corporations for corruption the Government.... cause it still comes down to the "System of legalized corruption" that must come to and end.... to me thats all the common ground we need... it folks will simply admit that and move towards accomplishing putting an end to it.

I totally agree. If we could wipe out the corruption TOGETHER, we could all get back to fighting each other over the other issues.
