For all those who question the movement against the 1%, or ridicule the cause, I propose the solution. The only choice we have is to utilize our mass power and stop our consumption. Let's start a strike! We, the 99%, provide the 1% with the power they use against us by continuing to give them our money. We need to stop buying for at least 3 days to a week so that the corporations and rich people will realize how much they need us! Please give me your feedback, and your suggestions would be much appreciated. This is our time to take back the control that was meant for us, "a government for the people, by the people".
you get them rich people!
In the name of what? Democracy? It hasn't worked. It won't work. How exactly will our mass power make representatives responsible for their actions? Every time someone has stood up against this or them, or has brought out a certain event/dilemma into light, they have been assassinated. And right in front of the world's eyes. Wall St. executives are laughing at protestors in the street getting pepper sprayed cheering and toasting champagne in their air conditioned offices. Something bigger has to happen.
If this is not worth dying for, then what is the point? It will not work and it is not valid if people will just go with the flow and hope it gets better.
I basically just buy what I need. To be honest, if I didn't buy for 3 days, I would probably just make up for it on the fourth day. :) Plus, I'm starting my own business at the beginning of the year and am buying a lot of equipment and supplies in preparation. Although, I do buy a lot of used items. Your post reminded me of that group (The Compact) that vows to not buy anything new for a year. They buy everything used, borrow, and barter. I'm kind of a frugal person, and like the idea of recycling whenever feasible.
"The only choice we have is to utilize our mass power and stop our consumption." If the problem is Wall St (bank) corruption, why don't we stop the revolving door between Washington and Wall St? Do a little research and check out the % of ex Wall St people in the current administration as well as the % of ex elected officials on Wall St. I think you will come to the conclusion that we should use our mass power to make our representatives accountable for their actions.
OK so how do you propose we do that?? Our government, in its attempt to check and balance its power, has only caused gridlock and stalemate between houses where it is nearly impossible to make policies. That is why we are proposing to take the accountability into our own hands and make corporate America feel the immediate impact of the power we have of consumerism.

Or instead of not buying, we could stop working.
